A new year in which it's time to start with the updates again, after a month's break over the holidays. Shortly, we will be able to start updating more specifics - one thing we've always liked about other campaigns we've seen and backed is when they bring you inside the process, showing you as many steps along the way as possible. As best we can (we're still learning lots of interesting things as we move The Pit through production), we want to bring you along for the ride.
Besides overseas production, we are also working on the bespoke player figures from the Megalomaniac level pledges - we'll try and share a few peeps of that work as well.
Steam keys were sent out before the holidays - if you have not gotten your Steam key as per your pledge, contact us, we'll set things straight.
Greetings Backers! We've had an interesting fall so far, and it's time for an Update on this project to let you know how everything is going so far.
1. We Have a Steam Key for You!
The majority of our Backers supported this project at the $5 Pledge and above, which means that all of you are entitled to a free copy of Sword of the Stars: The Pit. Since we're using BackerKit for fulfillment, we've been working on the Digital Download system of their site to provide you all with an individual Steam Key to download the game for free.
There were some complications with the site's Digital Download suite last week, but as of today we seem to have it sorted. You should have received an email today which will lead you to your personal code.
2. The Engineer Bundle is Complete!
3D Artist John Yakimow has completed the full set of models for our Engineer Pack of printable 3D files! We are currently doing a final run of test-prints to be sure that they are easy to use for home printers, but in general we're confident that every miniature is ready to print and play!
We will be looking at the best way to package those files for download and set it up soon. All of our Backers who have the Engineer Bundle should expect to have the files soon, and be able to start whipping up armies of Bots, Bats, Bears, Proteans and Zuul very soon!
It also means that we'll be reaching out shortly to our Megalomaniac backers to work on their individualized minis. If any of them give us permission to share the creative process on those, we definitely will! But only if they're comfortable, obviously.
3. The Big Step To Manufacturing Begins Soon!
We are the final phases of pre-production with our manufacturer in China. On our end, that means that every miniature, card, and component has to be carefully checked! We want this game to arrive on your doorstep as perfect as we can make it.
4. We Also Have Some Video Games Out This Month!
In the last two weeks, Kerberos has released two video games on Steam for the first time. The first is Pit Of Doom, our FPS/Roguelike hybrid made in the Unreal Engine. We've released the game for Early Access players this week, with a low starting price of $9.99. In the months to come, we'll be adding more exciting features on our way to the final release version of the game--including 4-player co-operative play, crafting, biomes, and the Final Floor. As time goes on, the price of the game will increase, so now is a good time to get a bargain!
We also made one of our older games available on Steam. Fort Zombiewas first released in 2009, and for several years was available only on three obscure download sites around the Internet. When they shut down the last available venue for purchase a few years ago, the community of fans and modders started to send us emails and chat messages asking for a place to get a clean legal copy.
We investigated and found that we could offer it on Steam, so we've packaged up the legacy code from 2009 to make it available to the community. We set it at the lowest possible price and stuck a launch discount on it as well, to wish our players a Happy Halloween.
Many thanks to everyone who supported and loved our weird little experimental game over the years. We love you guys.
That's It For Now!
Thanks for listening, and please contact us if you have any issue with your Steam code this week. In the meantime, thank you all for your support!
This is a brief but important update. The Pre-Order period for The Pit: The Board Game is almost over!
We will be locking down ALL final pre-orders via BackerKit on Sunday, midnight EST (9:00 pm Pacific).
Lock-down will be your last chance to upgrade your Pledge, and you must give us your shipping and email addresses to receive both physical and electronic items. So if you have not answered your Backer survey--please do! It is very important.
DON'T FORGET YOUR ADD-ONS!
The following Add-ons are still available for Pre-Order:
Our most popular add-on by far! The Pit Board Game Character Pack includes THREE Playable alien characters, with miniatures and all Item and Skill cards, plus 4 additional rooms to play and a bonus Brawler Mini!
For those who need an extra set of dice at the table, we offer a bonus box which includes a full set of the custom-molded Attack Dice, Defense Dice, and Fate Dice of the Base Game.
You can also order The Pit Board Game t-shirts. As a rule we only print Backer t-shirts during the actual crowd-funding campaign, so these t-shirts will be limited edition. If you want one, order before Sunday!
DID YOU BACK AT RETAIL LEVEL?
If so, just a reminder that you can pre-order our add-ons for the same Retailer Discount that you received when you ordered multiple retailer copies of the game itself. All your T-shirts, Battle Dice and additional copies of the game will be available to you at Retailer discount prices.
ARE YOU IN VANCOUVER?
Several of you have asked about whether we will offer free shipping for Backers who live in our home town. The answer is an unqualified YES!
When the game is manufactured and items are shipped, we will arrange a Pick-Up Party for our local Backers which allows them to come down to a single location and pick up all their items free of charge.
How do we know which of you will be picking up your Items via the Pick-Up Party?
Well, it will be easy. The shipping address you enter into our Backer Survey will be our home office!
If you want to attend the Pick-Up Party and pick up your copies of The Pit: The Board Game, The Pit Character Pack, Kerberos Battle Dice and Pit Board Game T-shirts at no charge, just enter the following info into our Shipping Survey:
C/O Kerberos Productions
1204 W. 8th Avenue
We will review all Backers after lock-down and before Credit Cards are charged on Sunday. Those who have entered the Kerberos office as their shipping address will have all shipping charges refunded before their cards are charged.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
As soon as the final pre-orders are locked down on Sunday, all cards will be charged. Once final payments are received from BackerKit, this game will be headed straight to the manufacturer and fulfillment will begin.
NOTE: All electronic items, including game downloads and Engineer Packs, will be delivered by November 15th. Please re-check your email address for accuracy so that you will receive your Steam codes!
Greetings all! We're just posting a quick monthly update to let you know how the project is progressing so far.
Our Survey and Pre-Order store with BackerKit seem to be working reasonably well! About 76% of our Backers have filled out the Survey without an issue, and the remaining 24% have until September to fill out their information and pick out any add-ons that strike their fancy.
In other good news, all the miniatures for The Pit Board Game Character Pack are now fully sculpted! Wara Jang, Rapari and Tor Makari are all fully detailed ready to be 3D printed and cast in plastic.
As a reminder: if you had a Completist pledge for this campaign, you will be getting the Character Pack automatically, which includes the miniatures for all three playable alien characters, as well as their player cards, tokens, items and weapons. This Character Pack also includes the Kickstarter Exclusive Brawler mini, so there are four minis in all.
If you didn't go for the Completist Level, it is still possible to change your Pledge Level to get the Character Pack, the 3D files and a cool Kickstarter Exclusive Pit Board Game t-shirt. You can also get all of these items as separate add-ons, as well as additional Kerberos Battle Dice (if the people at your table don't like to share!).
PROBLEMS WITH YOUR PLEDGE?
Although BackerKit has far exceeded our expectations so far, we have found a few bugs in the works along the way. Mostly these were the result of errors on our end, as it was our first time using this system for fulfillment. Also, there are still one or two Backer email addresses supplied through Kickstarter that have turned out to be undeliverable.
So far, we have been able to clear most problems up manually by logging into the Survey form as administrators. So if you haven't yet gotten your Survey or you feel there is an error in your Pledge information or shipping costs, please send us a PM here on Kickstarter. We definitely want to help! But we definitely DON'T want to discuss your sensitive personal info like private email addresses or financial info in the comments of a public post.
WE'RE COMING TO GENCON!
Want to meet us in person and give our games a whirl? We will be at GenCon from August 2 - 5th in Indianapolis, IN. We have lots of events scheduled to give players a taste of The Pit Board Game and our upcoming card game, Sword of the Stars: Control! But we will also be circulating at the convention and happily meeting up with players and other industry pros. Look for our smiling faces and the Kerberos Logo on our awesome new team t-shirts. Can't miss us!
That's all we've got for now. If you have friends who love Sword of the Stars, The Pit video game or great board games, please do share the link to our PreOrder Store! We would love to share the joy that is The Pit Board Game with more tabletop players.
Thank you, and hope you all are having a great summer!
Things have been quiet for a bit since the campaign wrapped, but we thought you might be curious how the post-campaign work is going on our end.
Answer: pretty well!
We've been working hard to set up our Backerkit surveys and the pre-order store for people who weren't able to pledge while the campaign was live. We're not quite ready to launch the Surveys yet--that should happen next week around the 4th of July, after BackerKit experts have had a chance to look over our set-up and assure us that we've done everything correctly.
That being said, we wanted to let you know what we've achieved creatively in the last few weeks, and tell you our plan for the delivery of all items.
TIMELINE TO DELIVERY!!!
July 3- 4th - We will launch our Backer Surveys on BackerKit and give everyone a chance to switch Backer Levels and pick any add-on items that catch their eye, as well as pay their shipping charges for their items.
July 10 - 11th - Funds for this campaign should be released by Kickstarter on this date.
July 15th - September 23rd - We will accept Pre-Orders and Add-on orders until September 23. After that date, all cards will be charged and all item counts for production will be finalized.
September 23 - October 15th - The game and all add-on packages will go through the final prototyping phase with the manufacturer.
October 15th - December 1st - The game and all add-ons will be manufactured, boxed, loaded onto palettes and delivered to our shipping partners in all regions.
December 1 - December 31st - If all goes well, all packages should be delivered to all Backers by this date.
ADD-ONS? WHAT ADD-ONS!?
We've created a few small add-ons to the campaign, based on the most frequently asked questions and frequently requested items during the Kickstarter.
Please note that if you have a Completist, Complete Reader, or Megalomaniac pledge--you will already have some or all of these items in your pledge! Please check your pledge carefully before ordering duplicates of items!
If you'd like to preview the Add-ons, or share a link with friends who missed the campaign and would like a copy of the game, our Pre-Order Store is on-line this week.
The first Add-On Item we've made for the BackerKit Store is the Kickstarter Exclusive Character Pack. This is included with Completist, Complete Reader and Megalomaniac Pledges, and it can be purchased as a separate add-on for all pledge levels.
The Kickstarter Character Pack includes three Playable Characters, complete with their miniatures, play order tokens, Player Cards, starting items and skills. It also includes the Kickstarter Exclusive Brawler miniature.
We have also created two t-shirts for Backers of this campaign. A limited edition t-shirt for The Pit: The Board Game comes with Completist, Complete Reader and Megalomaniac Pledges.
This is an all-cotton t-shirt in Forest Green, available in sizes from S-4XL. It is available for a limited time only through this campaign.
We also have a new edition of the Kerberos team shirt available. These are the same shirts that the devs on the team wear, now with our updated logo. They come complimentary for Backers at the Megalomaniac Level, but can also be ordered as an add-on by other backers.
For players who need MOAR DICE when playing The Pit, we've created an additional box of Kerberos Battle Dice. This box includes 10 of our custom red Attack Dice, 10 green Defense Dice, and 10 blue Fate Dice. This add-on does not come with any Pledge Level, but it is available to all.
You can also order extra copies of the board game, or a set of the 3D printing files of characters and monsters through our Backerkit store.
PLEASE NOTE: Changing your Pledge Level when your Survey arrives next week may be the most cost-efficient way to obtain additional items.
HOW DOES SHIPPING WORK?
We've entered a shipping table which will calculate the costs of shipping your items based on their total combined weight and your shipping address. This will give you the lowest possible cost for delivery.
Our shipping partners are able to deliver Customs-Friendly Shipping to the USA, UK, EU, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, and CHINA. If you are living outside those shipping regions, you may have additional duties attached to your package by the customs officials of your own country. We apologize for this inconvenience.
As soon as our Surveys are approved by the staff at BackerKit next week (fingers crossed), we will follow up with another Update to answer any additional questions.
In the meantime, thanks for your support and we're excited to deliver this game as soon as possible.
