THE d4 (aka heel caltrops)— Rugged little bastards always at the ready when we need to fire a magic missile, throw a dagger or to simply punch some city guard coppin' an attitude right in the face. They're indispensable.
Yet they have a problem, my friend. The proverbial elephant in the room everyone is aware of but nobody ever talks about. You know what I'm talking about. They've got no action — no game.
Roll a d20 and it bounces across the table, full of piss and vinegar. Nobody knows what the result will until it comes to a rest.
The d4...? Doesn't matter how much you talk to 'em, shake 'em or blow on 'em. Toss them and you get the same unsatisfying, plop sound — every time. How disappointing.
The Power d4™ changes all that. It brings the action, attitude and sass to the table that competitive gamers deserve. Nay, that they DEMAND. Finally, a 'd4' worthy of a place in your main battle dice arsenal.
This is a no-nonsense, no frills project. No stretch goals. No refrigerator magnets. And no shiny enamel pins. Just a the Power d4™ ‚— the die that can be the game changer at your table you've been waiting for.
NEW ADD-ON: BUNDLE OF MAYHEM
Since we've sold out so quickly on the Power d4 and have promised a limited run, we've decided to scrounge up some add-ons from the warehouse. First phase (assuming people like this) is a back issue bonanza of older Knights of the Dinner Table magazines at bargain basement mass quantity pricing. You can use this as a catch-up or a collector's paradise.
We're allowing orders in RANDOM lots of 36 or 72 unique issues (that is, no duplicates) AT A COST OF JUST $1 EACH -- about an 80% discount!!! For orders of 72 issues ($72 for over $450 in stuff), you can choose from issues ranging 30-150 or 151-267. The 36 issue order (that's $36 for over $225 in stuff) breaks down to these choice ranges: 30-90, 91-150, 151-210, 211-267. We guarantee no duplicates within the same order or 36 or 72, but we cannot guarantee no overlap if you order more than one set (although there may be very little overlap as we will choose randomly off the shelves).
SPECIAL BONUS: We will randomly provide a special bonus goody to every order. These could be a simple collector's die from a con or an issue under #30 or maybe even an original bit of hand drawn artwork or a special D-Team die used to triumph as a PC (or slay one for those GMs out there). Boxes of 72 will have greater odds (but not exclusive odds) to better stuff. Look out, though, there may be some random booby prizes too, like a lump of coal, dust, mold or Gary Jackson's (TM) Orc Dung or some one-legged dwarf minis.
SPECIAL SHIPPING NOTE FOR THE BUNDLE OF MAYHEM
This many magazines are heavy. In the US we'll offer a flat $15 shipping for 36 issues and $30 for 72 issues. For overseas, we'll have to charge actual shipping once the Kickstarter has ended (due to the vast variety of shipping rates).
To order, simply add the costs to your pledge ($36 or $72). YOU CAN ORDER THE BUNDLE OF MAYHEM EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T GET A CHANCE TO ORDER THE POWER d4. Order as many boxes as you like. Duplicates make great gifts for your friends or your very dear but also very near-blind Great Aunt Thelma.
All shipments will be processed through the United States Postal Service. Domestic (USA) orders will ship utilizing First-Class Service and international orders will ship utilizing First-Class Package International Service. All rewards will be packed securely in an effort to minimize risk of damage during shipping. Tracking is available for every order shipped. We do not provide the tracking numbers to all backers due to the time constraint, but all are available and able to be provided should any issues arise in shipping.
Our shipping rates are presented as a flat cost that is extremely close to if not the actual cost charged by the USPS - there is no attempt to inflate shipping fees.
Risks and challenges
Kenzer and Company have been in the business of making games since 1993 (including Knights of the Dinner Table comic book, HackMaster game of the year, Kingdoms of Kalamar setting, Fairy Meat miniature game, Monty Python and the Holy Grail CCG, etc). This makes us one of the longest-running active game companies in the world. A twelve-sided, "d4" is something of a pet project here. We wanted one and since nobody else was making one exactly like the one we had in mind, we decided to make it ourselves.
Through our contacts, we have chosen a manufacturer, received quotes and have a prototype of the Power d4 in our hands. As stated above we have capped production at two thousand dice.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
