Last update was *2* years ago? Kickstarted this thing literally 3 years ago, never received anything. ...Guessing I, and many others, have been scammed since pre-orders are still available on the main page. Would at least appreciate a proper update message or some form of communication, if not a refund.
I received these bars, bullhorn editoin, they worked well, for a bit. The fit and finish of the product was poor, the battery rattled, the trim around the lights was loose. Eventually (with probably less than 1000 miles) the lights started turning on/off without me tapping the on button, The app stopped connecting to my bars, and the app was never really full featured. I never really cared for riding with them, they were uncomfortable.
I love the idea. It just needs a larger company with more resources behind it to pull it off with really tight fit and finish.
Didn't get item, didn't get an recent update. I'd like a refund if possible.
I still have the app and my phone is jail broken. Let me see if I can extract it. The bars I got never worked so I could not tell you if the app works

@Mathew Francis - OMG! Yes, I need that app. Whatever you do, don't delete it. I don't think there's any way any one can get a copy of it now since it's no longer on the app store. I don't even own an iPhone but since they never made an Android version, it'd be nice to at least have the iOS version to control the bars. Hmm I have no idea how I can get a copy of it either. I assume to extract it, you'd probably need your phone to be jailbroken.

Have been trying to communicate with Kickstarter about what's going on. I've gotten some version of the following response several times:

Here at Kickstarter, we expect creators to fulfill rewards, offer refunds if they’re unable to complete their project, and communicate with backers at every step along the way. While Kickstarter is the platform for this agreement, we are not a part of it. We do not investigate a project creator’s ability to complete their project, nor do we facilitate refunds or the fulfillment of rewards. While in most cases you’ll find that rewards are delivered as promised, it’s also important to realize that some projects might not fulfill as planned.
These terms outline the responsibilities of backers and creators. This information can serve as a basis for legal recourse if a creator doesn’t fulfill their obligations under the agreement. We hope that backers will consider using this provision only in cases where they feel that a creator has not made a good faith effort to complete the project and fulfill.

Hi, does anyone still have the Helios Connect app installed on their iPhone? Please do not remove it. It's gone from the App Store so we can only rely on copies in the wild. Does anyone have a copy they can backup and share?

Not being able to fulfill orders is one thing. But totally abandoning all the backers is something else. Not a comment or update or any contact for a whole year. They have lost all interest and have not enough courage to formally update us with an apology.

An apology would definitely go a long way. I realize things happen, and you probably did your best, but you've been stringing us on with promise and bullcrap. Tell us the truth; tell us you're sorry. Own up and show us some spine.
Kenny-and-company, we've known each other for more than a productive 3 years. We've laughed, we've cried, we've been stabbed in the back by you. I've got a new address, and never heard back on the change, so expect by 2020 the residents of my old place will love their Helios bars. To think I was enough of a sucker to back you on two sets of Helios bars. THAAAANKS!
3 years 3 months since my pledge, and
NOTHING! No update, no explanation, no apology. Between this one, the Soap Router (a complete fraud), the IVEE digital controller (the biggest piece of junk I have purchased since my Blackberry Storm), and many others that just didn't live up to expectations or were not delivered, I am finished with Kickstarter, and will be making that clear to my 800 Facebook friends.
Trying to find some middle-ground here. It's not the failure to deliver that is most upsetting, it's the failure to communicate. As a non US citizen here - I didn't even get the faulty version of the bars, but have never had a note to explain why.
I know and understand the risks, but perhaps Kenny et al need to tell us once-and-for-all, we did our best, but we failed, and now it's over. I suspect an honest acknowledgment would go a long way to mollifying some of the angry backers.

To further the comments about the bars. They shipped a product they never worked and I would say given the messages they did respond to early on they knew it was not going to work. It is hard to start a business but they plowed through a lot of money and took orders when they knew they did not have a product. That is fraud
Barry Beams, we get all of that. What we don't get is why the updates stopped coming. I understand to reply to each email can be daunting to someone that is starting up a project, but what I don't understand is why time and time again Helio gives us estimated shipping dates and then disappears when the date passes by. I'm not talking about weeks either, I'm talking about months. It's been about 6 months since an update. As busy as someone can be, it doesn't take much time to update the backers. So I see you are a creator of a few projects. I know every situation is different but can you tell me why you think we haven't received an update in about half a year? What the logical reason can be? Because for the life of me I can't figure why. Instead of giving us estimate shipping times, they should tell the backers of the problems and why shipping out anytime soon isn't realistic. In general, when a person, company or entity gives you estimates and it comes up unspoken for how do you expect a person to feel? Now rinse and repeat this a few times and the feelings only sour. They need to be upfront with us. By the lack of any recent comments I get a feeling the majority of backers accepted the fact that the bars may never materialize. But what we should get in return for our pledge is a solid update. That is the most disappointing part. By the way, if the name calling made you feel vindicated, I'm glad at least one person is happy.
Really irks me to see some of the willingly uninformed hostile comments posted here.
A majority of KS projects all are late, or can't be fully fulfilled, despite the best efforts of the creators.
These guys are busting their butts, encountering unforeseeable obstacles, and not quitting despite already having fulfilled more than just their best efforts within the money raised to fulfill.
These guys certainly have not profited one penny, based on realistic estimates of what everything must have cost for tooling and production and programming and shipping.
Some people are doers, chasing dreams. Others like the naysaying schmucks making disparaging comments need to shut their mouths and try a startup venture of your own.
Kickstarter is not a store, and delivery is not guaranteed. So stop whining, and get it that you made a high risk unsecured investment with Kickstarter telling you bluntly that you may never get your reward. You invested in supported guys chasing a dream and an ambitious idea. From the accounts of what they've been through, its obvious that you picked the right guys to invest in, whether or not you ever get a product that will far exceed the original design specs. Think about it, what if they sent you the parts that were all no good and had to done over, or would have failed if they hadn't redesigned and remade parts that needed it.
I'm with William, I no longer support anything on Kickstarter because of this project. It makes me feel like Kickstarter is a platform for people or groups to crowdsource money for personal benefit. This was not true in the past as I have had successful backing of projects but this is the sad reality now. I understand there are no guarantees but with big money, there should be some accountability. From my understanding, not very many people received their bars. I'm thinking the money is gone and they are looking for silent investors. With no capital, no product. It's been eerily quiet on their front. I just wish there was something we can do class wise.
I have to agree with several of the other supporters, 3 years and nothing shipped is beyond reasonable. I no longer support Kickstarter projects because of things like this, no contact from project owner, no delivery on what was promised, and no support from Kickstarter when things go sour.

Wow! you guys ok? Any reason why you can't just respond with an update? If you've pulled the pin, can you at least give your backers a breakdown of how to fix/solder the bars inner workings so that we don't ride around unsafely without lights?
I have received nothing. Another reason I will not support another Kickstarter. I really believe Kickstarter need to have more oversight over their projects, and some teeth when the supporters get screwed.
Their web site is gone now. I believe any promise from them for delivery or replacement will never happen. I got to use my bars for exactly 1 ride before they died. They sit today in a pile of bike trash parts. Great idea maybe another group can make it happen
