I am in need of assistance to help fund my trip to Scotland in July, to attend the US / UK Iron Casting Symposium at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop in Lumsden, UK. Only ten people were chosen to attend this event from all over the world. While there we are required to hold demostrations and presentations on our project. I look forward to this learning and sharing experience as it will expose me to nine other artists and their ideas in a once in a lifetime event. I am excited to bring their expertise to Iowa in order to expand upon and share it with others. This is what I love about the iron casting community - its willingness to share knowledge. I am always trying to promote this idea and continue sharing my knowledge to anyone that has an interest in it. This is why I recently moved back to my family farm in NE Iowa, so that I can help others manifest collaborative & individual artistic visions.
My personal project I will be working on while I'm there is to use indigenous materials to create my slush cast iron vessels.
I am in need of funds to cover airfare, materials, conference fees and living expenses. For this experience it will cost me a minimum of $3000. I really need more to get the most out of my UK adventure. Anything that I have left over from my trip will go directly into setting up my shop at the farm where I will bring the wonder of cast iron art to the public.
