I'm Kelly, a young redhead with a love of the arts and ancient language. I married a cool filmmaker the year before last and we moved from the magical summers of the Deep South to the bustle of Los Angeles. While my husband was out pursuing his dreams in Hollywood, I decided to pursue mine too - to be an artist!
So in 2012, I started a business. It's called Whisperwill, and it combines my love of old things with my modern aesthetic and my desire to create.
Beadweaving is an ancient practice that has been used in many different cultures to create art, jewelry, and decorative clothing. There are still many beadweavers today who possess incredible technical skill and artistic vision! It's my goal to bring something fresh into their practice - I use the same traditional beading methods, but I apply them to mixed metals to create pieces that are sleek and modern, seamlessly blending into today's wardrobe.
But I need your help!
I will not be able to afford my current supplier without raising prices, which I've been trying to avoid. I found a new wholesale supplier with exactly what I need, but here's the catch - I have to order a minimum of 10,000 beads per finish color. But I have big plans for the beads - I've been drawing up designs for new pieces that are large, bold, and sure to be showstoppers. I also have plans to purchase and learn to use a soldering iron which will strengthen the joints of the new pieces. Help me raise the money to offset my startup costs with the new supplier and you'll receive handmade pieces from the Whisperwill jewelry line at a discounted rate! You even have access to my brand new pieces, which will go into production as soon as my new supplies come in.
As always, with Kickstarter, it's all or nothing. If I don't reach my goal of $1700, no money changes hands.

Risks and challenges
If my project is funded, my main challenge will be the volume of beading headed my way! Beadweaving is a very intricate and lengthy process. I've gotten faster, but I'm still working on ways to improve my posture while still being able to see my work. I feel confident, though, that I will be able to complete and ship the rewards in time for Christmas - and there's a chance I could complete them before that. It is my intention to give occasional updates to backers during the beading process so they can see how I'm progressing!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
