About this project
"Within my practices of art, writing, and yoga – I find myself connected to the term Bodhisattva. In Buddhism, a bodhisattva is either an enlightened existence or an enlightenment-being. I’ve also seen it as "One who is destined for enlightenment but wants to take all beings along..." It is in stark contrast to my original Nemesis Collection which was a creative visual project that sought to create haunting images that portrayed the darkness within each of us. I suppose living in Sedona really does me a lot of good, because I connect very well with this here.
So I decided that it was high time that I created the nemesis to my nemesis – a collection of lighter, inner-spirit-type images to contrast the former duality of my most illustrious project. However, even with my usual determination, I realized that with having a family and a lot on my plate, financially this project was almost completely impossible. Until I remembered Kickstarter..."
Bodhisattva (formerly Vardøgr) is my latest creative experimental photography endeavor that is intended to capture the "light" side of our own personal duality. This is the sequel to my Nemesis Project (my Nemesis' Nemesis?) which was photographed in NYC & NJ almost a decade ago -
Bodhisattva will capture the vibrant and beautiful qualities within each of us, in the upper Sonoran Desert of northern Arizona. I work with light and motion without over manipulating images after the initial shot. My goal is to create a new collection of fantastic images to complete my exploration into the inner workings of the mysterious self.
Bodhisattva [bodhisuttva]: "One who is destined for enlightenment but wants to take all beings along..."
Bodhisattva will be a book, gallery show and multimedia presentation that will be shown side-by-side with my previously released Nemesis images. A 'light side' and the 'dark side' special gallery showing is the plan at Sedona Arts Center's Special Exhibition Gallery in Sedona, Arizona (dates to be announced), including a photography book that combines the two aspects with the best images from both of my collections! Help me create these iconic images!
Bodhisattva is the Nemesis to my Nemesis Project. Sedona is the perfect place to capture the 'light within' and create a visual experience that truly defines the positive qualities we sometimes hide deep within ourselves.
I need your help! The original Nemesis Project was 100% self funded in 2003 and it was expensive! I'm raising funds to create the project, including but not limited to ;) replacing outdated and useless equipment, lenses, props and essentials to create my effects through light, exposure time and motion (no Photoshop - true story), etc.
What was Nemesis?
'Nemesis' was spawned by the first visual collection of haunting images from an old converted hotel of the 1800's. With this, came the creation of my very first collection, comprised of over 19,000 images taken over the course of 2 years, which was featured in my personal Private Gallery Showing in 2003 and in 2006 in Hollywood at Veronique's Red Velvet Variety Show.
The Nemesis Visual Collections and Gallery showing, includes three Published works, two unreleased collections and much more.Time-line?
I anticipate the project to be complete and in its final stages of
publication within 10-12 months after funding. I will keep you updated
every step of the way! Gallery showing would be scheduled for 2012.
Our duality can be either light... or dark in nature. This examination explores the mysterious light within us. Nemesis explored the darkness within.

"Klymenko’s new project begins 3000 miles away from his first Nemesis shoot and ultimately is an exploration of duality. His goal is to create a new collection of images to complete his exploration into the inner workings of the mysterious self."
We are all works in progress. Even the slightest action will create ripples, then waves through time. Remember to: Grow. Learn. Conserve. Preserve. Question. Denounce. Educate. Change. Free your mind.
