Her best work yet, these two EPs reach new heights for Mae and feature backing performances by some of NOLA's most esteemed artists.
After the successful Pennies in Hand project of 2011, Kelcy Mae is back with new songs and a progressing sound. This year, she is teaming up with several New Orleans artists/musicians and two local producers on two new recording projects. The two projects are slated for release as two digital EPs (short albums). A CD compilation of the two with bonus track(s) will also be available upon completion of both EPs.
The EPs will consist of new, original material and will feature Alex McMurray, Alexis Marceaux, Andrew Campanelli (The Revivalists), and Alexandra Scott among other New Orleans musicians. Jason Rhein, of Rotary Downs and Elephant Qulit Productions, and Rick Nelson, of Polyphonic Spree and The Afghan Whigs, will co-produce and perform on the EPs with Mae.
Each digital EP will be released online once it is completed, estimated to be April/May 2013 and Fall/Winter 2013. The compilation CD with bonus track(s) will be released at the completion of the second digital EP.
While the recording/production alone will cost between $10,000-$12,000, the post-production costs of proper promotion and distribution will up the cost of the entire project to between $16,000-$20,000. Kelcy Mae has already personally invested over $5,000 in this project, and we are modestly asking friends and fans to support at least $10,000 in additional costs...and hopefully plenty more! No matter what you can afford, every bit helps. Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing funding site, so we have to reach our goal to receive any backers' contributions. In the event that we do not reach our goal, no credit cards will be charged and the project will be put on hold.
Please help ensure a successful project from start to finish by supporting and sharing this project, and keep an eye on the calendar (kelcymae.com) as Kelcy Mae intends to tour between and after the releases.
Please help us turn this face...

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Timing is the biggest challenge. Since this is a Double-EP Project, recording sessions will be spaced apart. The first recording session is under way, though we need your support to return to the studio and complete the full project. We have set estimated delivery dates of the rewards to begin in April of 2013 and go through December 2013, but depending on variables such as studio and musician availability, it is possible that the project's completion time could take less or more time.
Rewards requiring scheduling (e.g. Producer Experience, Parent/Educator, Personal Performance, etc.) will be negotiated between Kelcy Mae and the backer. The estimated delivery dates do not necessarily apply.
We understand that backers not in or around New Orleans may not be able to attend certain events, though they will still receive their physical rewards. Depending on the reward chosen, Kelcy Mae will do her best to make up for a backer's missing a New Orleans event with guest list entry to a show in/near his/her town or through added merchandise if possible.
Thank you sincerely for your faith in Kelcy Mae's efforts and supporting her artistic endeavors!
