Bravery’s signature product is the PCT Pack, designed unlike any pack on the market today. The top-fastening and minimal strapping concept is revolutionary, and dogs and their owners alike will appreciate its heightened comfort, fit, flexibility, and ease.
The pack incorporates 4 patent pending design and utility features, and sets a new tone for K9 adventure gear. One of the most exciting features is the ability to customize based on the needs for your adventure - use the harness alone or attach the pouches and countless other accessories.
If you have a dog and like to go on adventures, or know someone who does, this pack is for you. Some essentials that go into the pack include dog food, water, poo bags, leash, collar, first aid items, camp towel, LED lights, and anything else small like your keys or cell phone.
If you are heading to the dog park, you might just use the harness itself, with a poo bag holder and a treat pouch hooked on to the PAL loops. The PAL System works like this:
Camping and backpacking trips call for the pouches for all the necessities. Depending on the contents, use the compression straps and stretch pockets so things are held taut to their sides while they bound down the trail. (Remember how annoying it was to run to the bus with your Trapper Keeper bouncing in your Jansport?!)
The most exciting patent pending feature is the top closure system. We have designed a way to fasten the pack on the TOP of the dog, so there is no more struggling on your knees fiddling with buckles, fur, and tightening straps.
Bravery's adjustable stretch straps are another visionary concept. Dog packs on the market today use unforgiving nylon straps that chafe and choke when too tight, and are useless when loose. This idea has also eliminated the dangling straps that obstruct leg movements and look sloppy.
Simply size the elastic straps once, and readjust if needed. No more retightening as they loosen, and now your dog is able to breathe, leap, swim, and run without being constricted.
Our size range will immediately cover Small, Medium, and Large, and if the Kickstarter is successful, phase 2 for Bravery will include expansion of the size offerings ( XS, XL ).
Our patent pending Bravery collar brings a breath of new life to the every day options. The minimalistic approach skips typical parachute fasteners and traditional buckle systems, and uses a custom claw hardware that simply slides into one of the daisy chain loops to fit your dogs neck.
You can customize the length of your Bravery leash depending on the amount of lead you wish to give, and the elasticity acts as a tug assist or shock absorber so not to injure your dogs neck or spine by jolting from unexpected stops or movements.
The bottom 12" of the leash is designed with an "Emergency Brake" for those times when you need to take control of a situation.
Thanks to the unique design of the daisy chain leash you can also attach anything with a strap or carabiner - a poo bag holder, treat pouch, keys, etc.
The unique imagery of the Bravery bandanas are a fun and useful product for both you and your dog.
The current line has 4 custom designed nature illustrations available in 4 colors, but our vision is to create a larger series as the brand develops.
The Bravery Adventure Log is designed to journal your experiences in the outdoors with your dog. Document great hikes, mushroom caches, granola recipes, gear, maps etc.
Developing BRAVERY has involved over 24 months of design, development, recording data, prototyping and field testing, and we are not done yet !
We're still in the refinement stages, so we need the Kickstarter feedback to help us take this to the next step.
The above graph is a 10,000 foot view of the next 6 months of our game plan, which involves final revisions, final prototypes, a visit to our manufacturer to confirm all materials, processes and quality, and finally the production and fulfillment to all of our backers!
The feedback and support from this Kickstarter campaign will help us bring the vision of Bravery to life.
On a 2011 Mt. Hood backpacking trip, our dog was injured from the design flaws in her pack. Searching for options, we were met with annoying hanging straps and packs that would end up sideways in the middle of an excited running session, and we agonized about having to strap the dogs in on our hands and knees - it just seemed like there had to be a better way.
The other roadblock we hit were colors, fabrics, and fasteners that didn't compare with the human equivalent. Brands that we wear have high-tech features and options in grays, black, and fun pop colors, and we couldn't find that in the dog wear world. We wanted something more our style, something more in line with our packs and outerwear.
So we set out to create dog gear that is functional and safe, that is innovative, and that has branding that we connect with.
From the vision of the pack came ideas to improve upon leashes and collars as well, and we have gone through dozens of iterations, prototypes, and field tests to get things right. We are finally ready to share our vision with you.
We make good looking, practical, hardwearing gear for people who are passionate about getting outdoors with their pets.
Whether your dog is a pavement hiker or a mountaineer, we hope you both enjoy our products as much as we do.
Brave the City. Brave the Wild. BRAVERY.
So that’s BRAVERY. We’ve finished the designs, and we’re just about to start production. But we need help to get our products on your dog. We hope you’ll join us. Thanks.
Risks and challenges
The high cost of materials, manufacturing, and minimum order quantities from our factory certainly pose the biggest challenge at this point, so procuring the funds for production is the first huge step.
Bravery is a brand new company, and though we've spent a great deal of time crossing our t's, there is certainly potential to face further challenges once we've overcome the funding hurdle.
We have a great relationship with our manufacturer, and solid leads for distribution, but we know we will need to continue to work to our full potential to make Bravery as big of a success as we believe it can be.
Once we've fulfilled Bravery to the Kickstarter backers, we will focus on getting it out there to the rest of the world. That's something we hope our Kickstarter community will be eager to help us with!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
