This certainly is fine!
From that far away year of 2013 comes a set of images so powerful, it stayed relevant for 3 more years and possibly beyond.
From my old webcomic "Gunshow," this dark horse of a comic rose into prominent usage among the college testing crowd and grew from there. Normally the first two panels are only seen. Brevity is the soul of wit, after all! But it continued to seep into the consciousness of America and the world as things seemingly just got... worse.
I, for one, hope there'll be a day when we no longer have to look for the dog on fire to support our feelings, but until that day comes, maybe a nice big plush of the boy will help.
We are working with Soft Stuff Creations to make this 13" tall plush of our favorite dog (his name is Question Hound, if you care to know). He comes with a nice flat butt to sit upright and quietly stare off, wall-eyed, into the middle distance. Trying to suppress it all. And he has a little plush coffee cup too, with his good catch phrase emblazoned on it.
The prototype featured in the video and these images will have some changes in its final production. They are:
- The hat will be a darker shade of brown.
- The coffee cup will be stitched to the belly, so "This is Fine" can be seen front and center much easier
- The "e" on "this is fine" will not be serifed so as to fit in with the rest of the letter friends.
Play Pak
Our boy will also come with a "Play Pak" that will include a small stand/platform type-object that shows his usual burning house background. A great set piece for your fire-dog it sit in and wonder when it will end. And it folds up nicely too, if you'd rather not.
Also in the Play Pak are three excellent stickers based on ya boy.
And a Magnet! Why Not!!!!!
One Legal Thing
Don't set fire to your boy. He should be made out of fire resistant materials, but we're gonna cover our asses and say that it would be wrong-headed of you to find out. Just hug him please.
Risiken und Herausforderungen
This will be the first time I have done a plush doll, but the prototype is very sturdy and I trust in Soft Stuff to make em right. Plus, I am working, again, with Make That Thing to get these boys sorted and shipped once the kickstarter is said and done with. As always, shipping is a crap-shoot, always has been, always will be, but we'll do our best.
