My great uncle was a convivial soul who believed in the healing properties of glögg. I want to share his recipe with the world.
I remember my great uncle Harry Thulin as a towering man with a gentle smile. And I remember him with a glass of warm glögg in his hand over the holidays.
Glögg is a delectable Swedish holiday drink. Uncle Harry thought of it as a tasty tonic that he would spend hours stirring and sipping over the stove then salute saying: "It heals what ails ya!"
My uncle Mark shared my great uncle Harry's glögg recipe a few years ago with the stipulation that I keep it close to the family. I've brewed a few batches over the years and I love the process as much as the drink itself. The aroma of the simmering spices that go into the mix permeate the whole house and it's awesome.
I didn't get to know my great uncle Harry incredibly well but I do know he was kind, generous and would have shared a glass of glögg with anyone that was guest for the holidays. I think he would have wanted to share it far and wide. That's what I'm hoping to do with this project.

If my uncle Mark (Harry's nephew) is still speaking to me after discovering I've shared the family glögg recipe with the internet, I'll convince him to find a time to talk with you on the phone for ten minutes to tell you one of the many stories about my great uncle Harry. I was too young to remember first hand accounts, but I know my uncle Mark has some good ones. (If he's not speaking to me, I think I can get my uncle Roy to fill in.)Estimated delivery:
