PEOPLE OF EARTH - Help us make your hood cool! Presently there is a 4-way intersection with no stop signs. We intend to turn this into a beautiful / psychedelic mural that will help folks slooow dooown when approaching,...and make the street rad by proxy. The design is by local artist Libby Krock and the whole Woodlawn Neighborhood is turning up to help paint it. This is a community effort with jamz provided by Electric iLL and organization coming from local businesses, neighbors, and area artists.
You are invited to the June 1st iLLocation!!
We need your help to turn this:
Electric iLL will host & DJ the event and is giving away music to those who come make their hood an artistic wonderland. "Hey dude, I may not like your music!" Fair enough. Here's a free tune for ya to see if you can stand listening to us for a few hours. Here's "Rock For You" (cuz that's what Ragen & I plan on doing).
If this ain't yr bag - then show up with earplugs and help make your neighborhood awesome! All donors get the perks listed and are automatically invited to the next iLLocation. They are known as "The iLLest" - simply for donating to make their world rad.
There will be raffles day-of June 1st at the mural from local businesses that are participating to help make this event a reality. We're partnering our efforts with the Village Building Convergence to make this happen. The VBC 2013 is a 10-day Urban Permaculture & Grid-Transformation Festival with broad activations of awakened social ecology in Portland, Oregon.
Thanks for helping us rock your hood!
We plan on doing this again,.... a lot.
Cheers Humans,...we think you're cool....
...and, We Will Rock For You!

We're setting the bar at only what the receipts are to make this event happen & nothing more. $750 covers pressure washing the street, tons of paint, brushes, buckets, & PA. If setbacks arrive and we don't meet our goal - we don't get to party. If we meet our goal - we totally party. If we exceed it - we'll rock you like you've never been rocked before & will do it again at another iLLocation here in Portland. Or maybe in your town, village, neighborhood or drifting planet. If something needs to be cool - let's make it iLL. Thanks for your support!
Where we find a place that is lacking rock - and make that place rock. We partner our jamz with worthy causes that make yr world a better place.
The Electric iLLumination is Kaylee Rob & Ragen Fykes.
On Earth they are called Electric iLL and play music for humans and host community events.
For the unabridged press release / multi-word history - see below from Tell All Your Friends PR:
Throughout his successful music career that has included a national charting hit song with Viva Voce’s, “The Future will Destroy You”, the formation of Blue Giant in 2008 alongside his wife and members of The Decemberists, a 2012 drumming appearance with Father John Misty on The Late Show with David Letterman, and several world tours, Kevin Robinson has seen his fair share of ups and downs and experienced the problems with both the music industry and the world at large while forging his path. Although Robinson admits he has spent a great deal of his personal songwriting time in trying to analyze these issues, he recently took a break from it all to focus inwards and on the present moment of today.
In doing so, Robinson has emerged with a new duo, Electric iLL, and a new EP, Twisted Light. To be known henceforth as Kaylee Rob, he teamed up with Ragen Fykes to create an Illumination of Electric themed and catchy music. Touching upon his wide ranging influences that extend back generations to electro funk groups like Midnight Star and new wave artists like The Eurythmics, Electric iLL has emerged with 5 songs that could shake the current electronic driven Indie music scene.
Kaylee Rob has already experienced great success with Viva Voce, an Indie rock collaboration with his wife, Anita Robinson, which was named one “Indie Rocks Hardest Working Duos” by Seattle Weekly. Since 1997, the pair has released 7 albums with various labels including Vanguard Records, Barsuk, Minty Fresh, Asthmatic Kitty, and more.
The new project, however, has been launched on Kaylee Rob’s very own record label, Amore!Phonics, which has fittingly been placed in the Robinson family’s backyard. In creating his own label, Kaylee Rob has been very successful at tackling many of the problems he sees in the world; He helped friend Sufjan Steven in composing a bilingual song about the nonexistent Mayan apocalypse of last year, “Blue Baktun”, which was included on Steven’s Chopped and Scrooged Christmas remix album. Additionally, Kaylee Rob recently created a program that prints 3D vinyl records. He has said, "With the advent of recyclable 3D cartridges, we can now - as artists - start undoing the petroleum based damage we've inflicted on this planet." Always frustrated with temporary quick fix solutions to problems that fail to recognize issues at the core, Kaylee Rob tackles problems in clear and logical ways.
"Traveling down the unknown trail. Rolling on without no rail."
Ignoring the subject of problems, Kaylee Rob and Ragen Fykes hit the studio and started coming up with original and keyboard driven melodies that would soon form into Electric “Illumination”, something that blended his favorite artists with The Book of Hopi and even some principles of Alchemy, the ancient process of producing gold from various substances like dirt; A process that has led to anthemic vocoder ass shaking tunes. "See me waving goodbye to the old life?".
Electric iLL began requesting emcee friends to leave rhymes on their answering machine and even looked back to the wise words of electrical scientist Nikola Tesla for inspiration to their music. With their artistic direction solidified in place, Electric iLL got busy and recorded Twisted Light in January of 2013, a remarkably quick process that harnessed their ability to capture the current moment and the feelings within. "Yes. I will rock for you."
The result is a brilliant Illumination of electro-pop beats, catchy and melodic keyboards that capture the essence of new wave music, and uplifting vocal performances while integrating the robotic influence of a vocoder throughout. This blend of styles has created a unique formula of Indie dance rock that has begun to captivate audiences through their early works. The Electric iLLumination's Twisted Light will be available April 16th, 2013 on Amore!Phonics.
