WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!! WE DID IT! And there's still 8 days to join in on the FUN!! xoxoxoxo. kawehi.
*BERTHA IS UP FOR REWARD!! She's been across the country with me - and I know she'll make someone very happy! Check the rewards to your right for details :)
**ONLY THE *HOUSE CONCERT* REWARD (reward 14) IS USA RESTRICTED. ALL OTHER REWARDS WILL SHIP WORLD WIDE!**
It's been a heck of a journey, my friends. In the past year, we've completed 10 original tunes, 48 covers, 3 EP's and 3 Kickstarter projects. So what the heck do we do with all of that shiz?? We go on the road and make a live album and documentary. DUH.
Last year, I changed my live setup quite drastically. I took the plunge into the live-looping world - and boy did it change everything. Since then, I've upgraded my setup a shit-ton and ended up with Bertha 2.0 - a four track live-looping setup with Mainstage to give me the different sounds that I need. With months of practice, I feel like I'm finally ready to take my rig on the road!
So what exactly is USA, The Project? We (Paul, Igor, Brando and I) are hitting the road to play at different house concerts, dive bars, busking streets - you name it - across the US. We are capturing this journey on camera and making a documentary out of it - the ups and downs of being DIY, the stress/reward of performing live, working together as a married couple and the connections we've made so far on the road to keeping our roots and efforts independent.
Every reward in this project will be a limited-edition, only for "USA, The Project" Backers. The rewards will never be available again - EVER - so it makes it all that more special!
It's sort of a goodbye to everything I've done so far - USA, The Project will be the last and only time I'll put out a live EP of every original and cover I've done up to date - kind of like seeing your kids off to college! It is time to do these songs live for one last time before dedicating all of my efforts into new material and diving in to the next round of EP's.
So what will your generosity go towards? Here's an idea:
-Recording, Mixing and Mastering of USA, The Live Album
-Materials for me to handmake every CD and DVD
-hotels, huts, cardboard boxes - whatever roof we can put over our heads while on the road
-Gas (for the car, not from Paul or the dogs) and Food (for Paul and the dogs, not the car)
-Filming, editing and production of USA, The Documentary
After summoning the Asian in me and crunching out numbers as best as I could, we figured out that bare bones everything should cost roughly around $12k. If we could come up with half of that here thru Kickstarter, together, we could conquer the world! Ok, maybe not the world - but a heck of a live record and film.
And if this one goes well...next stop, EUR, The Project!
I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am. Grateful to technology for allowing me to connect with people all over this beautiful world. Grateful for people who believe in me so much that they are willing to support my efforts in doing what I love. Grateful for my loved ones. Grateful for this career and journey I've had so far - and for everything that is yet to come - all because of you.
I am one grateful chick. Thank you.
All my love -
Risks and challenges
As with everything, there are risks and challenges. For one - we plan on bringing back up gear for everything on the road - but sometimes, shit happens. My gear could explode and someone could set fire to my back up gear - in which case, I'll have to perform the house concert A Capella. We could run out of gas and end up at your house later than we thought. Paul could leave me on the side of the road and I'll never get back home in time to get all of your incentives out. Rest assured - we've successfully completed 3 Kickstarter projects so far - all of them either early or on time - so whatever happens, we are dedicated to getting you your Pledges that you so, SO deserve on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
