Hello Katpack, you lovely heros of mine! Here we are, after reaching our first stretch goal of 30k!!!! The album is getting made AND all backers will receive behind-the-scenes footage of said album getting made. So awesome!
Our new stretch goal is 40k! What happens if we reach that goal?
LIVE CONCERT COSTUME PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA! The beautiful Lincoln Theater in downtown Raleigh, NC will host an intimate concert of me debuting my new album! Lincoln Theater has been home to me for many years, and has also had the likes of The Darkness, OK GO!, and The Dresden Dolls grace the stage, to name a few! Anyone with printed proof of pledging to my kickstarter will get in for free! This concert will double as a COSTUME PARTY where you can dress up as anything you like and there will be PRIZES! AND to make the show even more fun, I'm adding VAUDEVILLE PERFORMERS to the mix!
The concert will also be live-streamed on Youtube, so everyone, no matter how far away, will be able to join in the fun!
And as a bonus, we will record a live album from that night, which will ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO BACKERS to download for free!
So how can you help us get to 40k? SHARE this Kickstarter! DONATE to this kickstarter! And don't forget, if you've already donated, you can always add a little more to your pledge amount.
We can do this, Katpack! Let's keep this Kickstarter growing!!!
HELLO you lovely and wonderful people that have found my kickstarter page. I am Kat Robichaud from The Voice and I need your help in creating my debut solo album! Support my Kickstarter and you'll receive not only my undying gratitude, but you'll also receive magical goodies in return for your heroic deeds.
For those of you who know all about me, well hi there! Skip ahead to the next paragraph. For those of you who don't: I have always wanted to be a performer ("yeah, you and everyone else"). Like a lot of people, I was raised to think it was a pipe dream, albeit my über-conservative and sensible parents meant well.
So I went to school for graphic design, graduated, and I got an internship which lasted about a month before I quit to play music full-time in a band called The Design. We put two albums out and then we broke up. I was devastated. At that time, I was totally lost and didn't know what to do. Then, all of a sudden, the answer came in the form of the hit TV show, The Voice.
It was the most incredible experience of my life. Not only did you guys vote me to the Top 10 (THANK YOU! xoxo), you also connected me with my rock lady idol, Amanda Palmer, who told me about the wonders of Kickstarter. As I looked into it further, I loved the concept more and more, and now here we are!
I am beyond ready to be out performing again. I miss you all TO DEATH, but there are steps that must be taken first in order for me to get back on that stage. The FIRST STEP is to RECORD AND PUT OUT AN ALBUM.
Records cost money to make. (WHAAAA??? I KNOW, RIGHT?) I have to pay musicians to play on the album (because let's face it. I suck at the trumpet). I have to pay for time at a recording studio, a sound engineer, a producer, and I have to pay for the manufacturing of the actual physical album that you will so lovingly place in your cd player/ computer apparatus and subsequently rock out to.
Of course, I don't have a record company fronting the bill. I’m an independent artist, and I need your help NOW more than ever. I want to create a BAMF theatrical rock explosion album straight from my beating heart to yours. It's time to come out swinging. I NEED YOUR HELP. Kickstarter is an amazing platform for artists like me and for awesome people like you, because it bridges the gap. No middle man. Just us. We can work together on this album! TOGETHER we can move mountains.
I have been writing non-stop and I am more excited that I've ever been about the music I'm creating. Lots to write about: love, heartbreak, Doctor Who... This is what the previous music I wrote sounded like (to give you an idea of even weirder things to come).
It's important to know that with Kickstarter, it's all or nothing. If I don't reach my goal, I don't get a dime, but I witnessed first hand hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world come together and tweet #savekat in just FIVE MINUTES. THAT WAS MAGIC. Now you can save me again (Don't let this Tinkerbell die. CLAP!). Please contribute to my Kickstarter campaign, share this link with others, and help spread the word.
If we reach the goal, I'll be able to make the album. If we exceed the goal, I'll be able to put more into the album and make it even better!
You're welcome to contribute more than the specified amount for any of the packages, and there’s no limit to how many packages you can order for anyone who might be looking to order multiple packages as gifts.
Here's just a few of the unique goodies!
Throughout the kickstarter campaign, I will keep everyone who has contributed updated with emails, pictures, and videos of my progress on the album. WHO KNOWS... Contributors might even get a sneak peak of my new songs and 3AM musings.
Staying connected with you is the most important part of all, so please keep the lines open and stay in touch.
Thank you so much to all of you for your continued support. I need you now more than ever.
Thank you for being a part of my dream. I love you all.

Risks and challenges
Album: If we reach the goal and the campaign is funded, there WILL BE AN ALBUM. I will be posting frequent updates to let everyone know how far along the album is. However, while recording the album, I will be dealing with a lot of other people's schedules; For example, the studio, engineers, producers, musicians, etc.. I will work diligently to release the album as close to the delivery date as possible. Everyone who contributes to the Kickstarter will receive updates on the recording process regularly. Should I expect any delays regarding the album release, I will let you all know as early as possible.
Skype Chats: Naturally, if there are a high number of backers who I’ve promised a Skype chat with, it may be a challenge to get all of those chats scheduled quickly. However, IT WILL HAPPEN. More than likely, Skype chats will take place once the album has been finished so I can keep focused on making the album.
Personally Written Songs: Personally written songs "by me for you" and Youtube dedication covers will be delivered after the album is completed so that I can stay focused on getting the album done on time.
Private Shows: I will do my very best to get private shows scheduled for a date within one year of the date that the campaign is funded. Private shows will have to take place on a mutually agreed upon date. Dates may need to be scheduled well in advance in order for me to avoid any scheduling conflicts with the album release or touring plans.
International Shipping: Some countries have restrictions on packages from other countries. In the event that a package cannot be shipped safely to your country via USPS, we'll have to work together to see if we can find a solution either by finding alternative shipping methods or replacing certain items with other more shipping-compliant options. In the event that there are any problems regarding international shipping, either myself or someone on my team will reach out to you and get the issue taken care of.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
