Sure--but not much. In the humanities (and at this big public university in particular), funding is in short supply, and brilliant students working on great projects are a dime a dozen. This is particularly so for creative writing projects, which synthesize research others have completed rather than launching new studies. Although I've done a ton of grant writing during my program at the University of Arizona, I haven't had much luck funding this project. For many grants, it's too interdisciplinary. I'm not eligible for other grants because I am an MFA student rather than a PhD student (although MFAs are the terminal degree for writers).
I did benefit from a summer fellowship last year, completing quite a bit of personal drafting as well as foundational research on supply chains, medical technology, and the mining industry. However, this year I've had less luck. This Kickstarter project is my best hope to move through this next stage of the book project.
