Bruce Finds A Home is an illustrated children’s book based on the story of how Bruce was found. In the book a girl called Kate is walking home from school when she finds a kitten. She has to figure out where his home is and get him to safety before a thunderstorm drenches both of them.
Supporting this Kickstarter campaign enables you to pre-order copies of the book... or select from a range of other rewards including stickers, custom illustrations and even Bruce’s paw print! You can also choose to donate copies to The Animal Rescue Network, a charitable trust dedicated to helping stray and abandoned cats and kittens.
Whether you love animals, love children's books or love Bruce the Cat, we hope you’ll support us in bringing this book to life.
About the book
The book has been quality approved by the children at Port Chalmers Primary School and other friends of Bruce aged between two and six. The story has a rhyming structure which makes it fun to read aloud, and it has a subtle message about caring for animals.
This quality book is an 8.5 x 8.5 inch hardcover (128gsm over 2mm board and matt lamination). It will be printed on lovely paper and be full colour throughout. The layout and book cover are designed by award-winning book designer Anna Egan-Reid from Mary Egan Publishing.
The illustrations have been hand-drawn using coloured pencil. The houses, plants and landscapes in the illustrations are based on Bruce the Cat's real neighbourhood.
Everyone who pledges will receive the 'mew' (pawtographed digital photo of Bruce). Everyone who pledges level 'cat' or above will also receive the 'virtual cat' (the eBook version of the book).
Kathryn van Beek has a master's degree in creative writing and is an award-winning writer and illustrator.

Risks and challenges
We have written the book, illustrated it, developed a publishing plan and built an audience. Now we just need your help to print it.
We know Bruce has a lot of international fans and that shipping from New Zealand may be expensive for some people, so we have kept the price of the book as low as we possibly can.
