Welcome Back to All of my Dear Patrons, and Hello to Newcomers!
I'm very pleased to announce my newest record, a 6 song EP titled "Daydream" that I've been working on over the past couple years with producer Warren Huart (Howie Day, Marc Broussard, Trevor Hall).
It will be finished early to mid 2017 and I'm aiming for a September release date. It is a collection of songs that I wrote a few years ago (possibly even pre-emptively, a foreshadowing of sorts to a new and very different life than the one I was leading during the writing), all six exploring the theme of relationship…with oneself, with significant others, with love and trust, with the world, with reality, the music industry, the changes that occur over time in relationships. There is a seriousness of topic yet a dark and light juxtaposition of sound to the record. It's more acoustic folk than anything I've put out since my very first home recordings over a decade ago. It's raw and honest. I have a feeling it's only the beginning of a very new artistic season in my life. It was the tip of the iceberg that I've just started to uncover as I write again after a year of quiet. The connective tissue that has sustained me through a period of frozen creativity. Finishing what I started. The catalyst for what's next.
I didn't feel attached to it when I started, in fact, I almost wanted to throw the whole thing out because it didn't seem to be meaning much of anything to me. Then I revisited it after a very difficult personal life season a year and a half later and I saw that I really did understand and relate to what I was trying to say. I'm very glad we finished it. I needed to complete what I had started to say in order to move forward with my creative journey, rather than getting stuck in that place. The songs took on a new meaning in the light of my new perspective following a time of intense personal change, growth and letting go. My hope is that, as all good songs do, they can mean something to you wherever you are at in your life as well.
The EP: 6 songs recorded and produced by Warren Huart at Spitfire Studio in Los Angeles.
~ Guests include Dave Preston (Dearling, Freddie Jones Band, Matt Morris) and Mike Morter (Churchill).

~ Artwork to be completed by Scott McCormick.
Budget allotted is for artwork/design, mastering, additional session musician expenses and pressing the hardcopy EP in a jacket style package - total of $3000+.
This budget is quite low for the value of the record because the actual expenses for producing the record are being covered outside the scope of this pre-order campaign. Any overage raised will help to reimburse me, the artist, for travel expenses during the recording of the EP on two separate trips in 2015 and 2016 (a novel concept, lol).
The Video: A New Official Music Video for the title track "Daydream" which explores the themes of denial and longing, shot and produced by Tage Plantell of Silver Halide Pictures. I'm raising funds to cover the expenses of shooting the video (two different shoot days that have already been completed in 2016) and editing (TBD) in order to release the video online. Budget: $3000+.
The Rewards: I tend to usually run crowdfunding campaigns as preorders of the project undergoing completion, with a couple special credit options for patrons who want to contribute more. You'll notice I'm also including two of my personal instruments as the high-end rewards. My J-185 is the acoustic guitar I've played primarily over the past decade and I've written most of my songs on her. I hope to find the perfect home for this amazing guitar. The neck suffered a break but has been professionally repaired and is as good as ever. The custom hollow-body "Stella" has some issues with her neck which are probably not repairable (a very artistic prototype that I designed with the start-up company but didn't fare the change in climate well after I received her) so this would be available as an art piece for display only. It's an absolutely beautiful guitar.
Thank you. I am always appreciative of your ongoing financial support - it is how I am able to continue to create and release new music. I hope you'll consider coming alongside me in releasing this record and video in 2017 by pre-ordering a copy or a digital download or choosing to be one of my Special Credits or Executive Producers.

Risks and challenges
There are no risks or challenges this time around, the record and video are completed and will be released one way or another. The risk is me not being able to pay for it all and having to deliver pizzas for the next five years instead of making more music, lol.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
