PurePort is the one tool you need to keep all your Apple devices, plus your cables and accessories, clean where it counts – INSIDE as well as out!
If you’re suffering unreliable connections right now, PurePort can solve them, and restore cables you may have considered ‘faulty’ to perfect working order. But prevention is always better than cure – regular use (every 3-6 months) ensures you avoid poor connectivity or arcing damage before it occurs.
PurePort will extend the life of your iPhone and iPad, save you unnecessarily replacing cables, and solve the hassle of unreliable connections.
If you’ve ever experienced unreliable connections charging your iPhone or iPad, you’ll know how annoying it can be.
Our extensive research revealed that the primary cause of these common connection issues was contamination of the Lightning ports with various types of debris – lint, hair, tissue fragments, skin oil, and other dry or moist contaminants.
But because you can’t SEE inside your Lightning port, once these nasties get inside, they stay there, causing increasingly unreliable connections.
But are these issues common?
Unfortunately, connectivity issues with iPhones and iPads are all too common...
Our research, including 150 random iPhone and iPad user surveys and focus groups involving 100 participants, revealed that 57% of them had experienced connectivity issues, with most of those having problems “many times” or “occasionally”.
Through extensive research and testing, we discovered that no single tool could adequately clean the different types of contamination affecting Lightning ports on iPhones and iPads. And certainly couldn’t help repair the damage caused by debris, namely the oxide/arcing (black marks) you may have noticed on cable tips, and won’t have noticed on the connector pins inside your Lightning port.
So we set out to create the ultimate multi-tool to address all aspects of cleaning your Lightning ports and cables, ensuring reliable connectivity, and reviving damaged ports and cables. PurePort’s seven tools help you address three essential issues:
Tools 1-4: Clean and Revive Lightning Ports
The first four tools make it easy and safe to remove ALL types of debris from your Lightning port. Even reaching the hard-to-reach cavity behind the retainer springs on the edges of the port, repairing oxide damage on internal pins, and removing stains and non-dry contaminants.
Tools 5-6: Clean and Revive Lightning Connectors on Cables and Accessories
The next two tools can clean the tips of your cables of dry debris and stains. And also reduce oxide damage (the black marks where arcing over the connector has pitted the delicate contacts), restoring strong connectivity.
Tool 7: Speaker & Switch Brush
To keep your iPhone’s other ‘orifices’ clean, we’ve designed the perfect size, shape, bristle thickness/length mini brush. Use it to clean the lint that tends to build up in the speakers and headphone of your device, as well as around switches.
If your speaker holes, or headphone slot (where sound comes from when you’re on the phone), look grey or white, it’s likely they’re filled with lint and dust – if they’re clean they should appear black.
Unique Multi-Tool Design
We’ve combined all these tools into a unique multi-tool ‘Swiss Army Knife’ design. Remove and reverse each tool to use it - the body acts as a handle. Or use each tool stand-alone if you prefer.
Micro-Fiber Surface Cloth
To make PurePort the ‘complete’ tool for iPhone and iPad cleaning, we added our preferred surface cleaning solution – a high quality micro-fiber cloth – lint free of course!
Occasional cleaning of your iPhones, iPads and accessories with PurePort will:
Benefits 1 and 2 alone are worth up to $650 for a typical Apple household over five years, in reduced device and cable replacement. But for many iPhone and iPad enthusiasts, being FREE from annoying unreliable connections is the most important thing. All for little more than the price of a single replacement cable...
Before and After
The problem with contamination of electronic connections, especially inside a Lightning port, is you can’t SEE how bad it is – so you’ll only know it’s a problem when it starts impacting your daily charging and connecting.
A quick clean with PurePort, tools 1-4, can dramatically improve the state of your port and electronic connections:
PurePort tools 5-6 can not only clean the connectors, but reduce the visible oxide/arcing damage (blackening), and restore them to reliable connectivity:
PurePort will actually reduce the number of new cables you buy – remember, it’s usually not the cable to blame, the cable tips are just ‘the victim’ of contamination inside your device!
PurePort was founded when wife-and-husband team, Kate & Josh Swinnerton, got tired of cleaning the ports on their iPhones and their young kids’ iPads. After trying many home remedies, and seriously damaging an iPhone with a paperclip (!) they went searching for a product to clean Lightning ports ‘properly’ – but found nothing adequate.
Researching the problem extensively, they were surprised how many other Apple users also had regular problems with unreliable Lightning port connections – over half of those surveyed complained of similar issues!
Using a digital microscope, they looked inside 100s of Lightning ports, and were shocked by the amount of hair, lint, dust, stains and other debris found, even when the devices looked clean on the outside.
The PurePort team was put together internationally to further research and develop the product. The team are a group of diverse designers, engineers and digital marketers passionate about keeping their iPhones and iPads working perfectly and free from annoying connection issues.
We’ve partnered with product design and manufacturing experts Production Partners to ensure PurePort is effective, high quality, and gets to market (and into your hands) ASAP.
Production Partners are the design and manufacturing powerhouse behind a string of successful products - KickStarter projects as well as innovative product developments for major brands. Check out their amazing work HERE.
We’ve worked with Production Partners for over 18 months to refine the PurePort design, with extensive Design-for-Manufacture (DfM) optimization of the design to ensure the product can be made at scale and quality. Production Partners will coordinate all aspects of the manufacture, assembly and quality control of your PurePort.
Our team followed a rigorous, research-centric process in developing PurePort – from extensive analysis of home remedies and adjacent solutions, to examining relevant cleaning tools used in other industries, and of course a great deal of trial-and-error.
The PurePort multi-tool concept developed out of the realization that no single tool could possibly clean all types of contamination from both ports and cables, or repair the oxide damage found in many cases.
We took the key tools required to do the job, and combined them into a convenient multi-tool that keeps all sub-tools together and stores each tool, while also acting as a handle.
The multi-tool approach, and the designs of key sub-tools, are now the subject of a provisional US patent and design registration.

Risks and challenges
With your support, we’re confident that we can not only deliver PurePort, but do so promptly and to an exceptional level of quality. Delivery in 2019, NOT two+ years down-the-track!
All product development projects have risks, but PurePort is relatively simple - our latest (v5) prototype, that you can see in the video, is a complete working prototype that we used to clean the ports and cable tip you see in the BEFORE and AFTER shots, so yes, PurePort ‘works’.
We are currently undertaking broader testing with real-world users, and we may make modifications to improve the product based on their feedback - but any changes should only make it even better!
Our team is made up of experienced engineers and designers who’ve successfully delivered large complex, electronics, product, design and software projects.
With our manufacturing partners, Production Partners, we’ve refined the PurePort design for manufacture, with all supply/manufacture/assembly/packaging requirements confirmed and priced in detail.
As soon as we reach our funding goal we’re ready to 'push the button' to apply final refinements and commence tooling and manufacturing.
Thanks for your support!
