MY PROJECT

Hello, my name is Kate Korroch!  In June of 2011 I will be attending a residency program at Red Gate Gallery in Beijing China and in July I will be flying to Seoul, South Korea to conduct research.  While in China and South Korea my goal is to engage local artists to learn about how gender, sexuality and body image are reflected in their artwork.  What I discover will contribute to my master of arts thesis in Visual and Critical studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  During the residency I will have access to a large private studio space where I will create artwork which addresses the issues in which I am interested.  My hope is that as an artist interacting with these ideas I will be able to create an active dialog with those I encounter.

HOW YOU'RE HELPING

First and foremost your interest and support are paramount, thank you!  The Kickstarter program will help fund residency fee and my airfare to Beijing, China and Seoul, South Korea.  The funds which I receive here will also greatly affect the materials I am able to use while painting during my residency.  Every little bit helps.

Regardless of your financial support, please keep track of my projects on my website -- www.katekorroch.com.  You can see what I am up to while there.
