Series 13- Custom Machined Aluminum iPhone Cases
We are offering custom-machined aluminum iPhone cases that we design and manufacture ourselves, here in the USA.
Hello again Kickstarter, thanks for taking a look at our latest project!
We here at KarasKustoms have been working hard on a product that we are really excited about and we would like to share it with you. We call it the Series 13. The Series 13 are machined cases that fit the iPhone 4 and 4S. Our case design comes with an powdercoated or anodized finish, acetal spacers and stainless button head hardware. Each one is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and only weighs 1.5 ounces. They look and feel great on the phone. We have streamlined the case and added material to the back, to provide more protection and add rigidity. This all new case better allows the phone to be used like a camera, giving more clearance for the flash, enhancing the grip and giving better access to the volume buttons. We machine all the edges on the case, adding a smooth chamfer to give the case an industrial aesthetic while making it more comfortable to handle. Because of our unique design, the phone can stand on its end, or side, to make activities like viewing or taking video much easier, without the need for a separate stand. An added bonus is that our cases also help prevent the dreaded dropped call problem of the iPhone 4 by moving your hand away from the surface of the phone, without covering it up. And, as always, our phone cases have no logos or branding on them whatsoever. These belong to you and we believe you shouldn't be forced to advertise for us, unless you want to. Because we design and manufacture the Series 13 cases, we have complete control over the product. No waiting on some company overseas to send us the latest sample, if we need to see the latest version, we make it, ourselves.
Each case comes assembled with black spacers and includes a set of additional white spacers, two extra screws, and an Allen wrench.
Why do we need Kickstarter?
We first started making cases for an older model of the iPhone back in late 2009. We made one at a time using a very small fixture that we knocked out in a couple of days. Fast forward a couple of years and we find ourselves outgrowing our current production methods with a new case design. We want to make and sell more cases, but we have a problem. In order to improve our production, we need to make a large, custom fixture that will allow us to increase our output to a point where continuing to make cases will make economic sense. In order for this to happen, we need to do two things. First, we need to stop all production work in one area of the shop so that we can free up a machinist, and some machine time, to make a large, custom fixture that will allow us to make many cases at once. Second, we need to cover the costs associated with this great undertaking, including materials, tooling and extras like having cases powdercoated by a third party.
And this, Kickstarters, is where YOU come in. While we can design and machine the fixture ourselves, we need to be sure that taking a loss on production work is offset by the number of cases we can guarantee will be sold. By introducing new colors and finishes through our Kickstarter campaign, we can give those who are willing to help us undertake such a large project the first chance to get these latest cases, before they are introduced to the rest of the world. By pledging to purchase a Series 13, you can help us reach our financial goal so that we can afford to make the custom fixturing needed to make these unique cases.

Made in America
Just remember, when someone asks about your case, and they will, tell them it was made by an American company, employing American workers called KarasKustoms.
