Kaptivo captures a slide deck of your meeting automatically as a PDF. Individual board image "snapshots" can also be saved as PNGs. We may support additional formats in the future, enabled by a free software update.
Kaptivo comes with a mounting plate which attaches to any wall. The Kaptivo unit itself then slots into this plate. We are considering alternative mounts (including clips and suction mounts) so Kaptivo can easily be attached and removed from movable whiteboards, and hope to make these available later in the year.
Kaptivo will work with any color of board, as long as the ink is darker than the board color. So, Kaptivo works great with gray boards. However, Kaptivo doesn't currently support blackboards (white chalk on a black background), although please let us know if you'd like to see this capability and we'll consider it.
Yes. For live sharing, Kaptivo uses an Amazon-hosted cloud service based on industry-standard end-to-end TLS encryption. Due to the encryption, no-one (including us) outside your board share can ever access your board content. No meeting data is stored either on Kaptivo itself, or on our cloud servers.
Right now, all Kaptivo connections are routed via our cloud service. However, we have had a lot of requests for a "local network" only mode where direct connections are made between clients and Kaptivo, without any external data transmission. We are looking at implementing this functionality, and providing it for Kickstarter backers via a free firmware update.
