Musicon is a new musical instrument for the education of children ages 3 and up. Learning coding and musical composition couldn't be easier. It’s super intuitive.
The more money raised during the fundraising campaign, the more Musicons can be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities. One Musicon will be donated for every 100.000 USD collected.
In recognition of our campaign supporters’ efforts, half of the Musicons will be donated to House Charities in the countries whose residents gave the most. The recipients of the remaining instruments will be drawn from among other centers around the world.
Wood was the obvious choice as the primary material for Musicon (more than 90%), because of its warmth, soft touch and eco-friendly properties. Wood also has a long tradition as a material for toys and musical instruments and our finely crafted wood is used, both natural and stained white. The buttons are shaped from, easy to clean, environmentally friendly plastic.
Two independent clutch systems (mechanical and electronic) constantly ensure safety. Inside of a Musicon there are controllers, a step motor and an optical sensor which ensure safety and the consistency of any composition.
Sound accuracy, harmony, and tempo result from the highly precise tools used to build Musicon. It is a fusion of traditional materials and the latest production technology.
The overall size, soft edges, and light pressure necessary to push the buttons have been carefully designed with a child’s ergonomics in mind.
How it works?
While having great fun, children develop varied skills. They learn group cooperation, learn how to compose music and they begin coding and learning math while experimenting with the unlimited mechanics of Musicon.
Get started by creating any shape you like! You can now listen to that shape. This way children can combine three basic senses – they can touch, they can see and they hear the composition!
With Musicon children can draw, count and design with buttons and then listen! In this process kids can also count sounds. This is how kids develop their selective composition of sounds and intervals.
Musicon is a wonderful instrument that sounds like a complete band!
It contains three moveable instruments, each held by magnets on an acoustic frame. The holding system is simple and enables the addition of other instruments, including brasses, strings, and other percussion instruments.
The possibilities are endless and the instrument set will grow with new additions.
It can create the most complicated rhythms out of the 3 instrument set and has two sound qualities: soft and strong.
The sound frequency was determined by research into the development of children’s hearing growth and abilities.
A rotating rainstick teaches about music and mechanics. Because all the moving parts are visible, a child can see how this instrument works.
Musicon is just the right size for a single child to play or group interaction.
Musicon is not just a device. It is an integrated learning system.
To get the best out of Musicon, we’ve been working with skilled teachers, therapists, music experts and hundreds of children.

With Musicon you receive scripted lessons and expert knowledge which were created as a result of collaborations with experts.
- Control of errors – children can try variations and immediately self-correct without adult intervention.
- Child-centered – kids just need to learn that buttons up = sounds. After this initial discovery the composing and fun start!
- It's non-prescriptive – children have freedom to express their creativity.
- It's inviting – the wood and bright colors instinctively invite the child to play with it and learn from it.
These are just some of the places we know that Musicon fits perfectly.
We have tested Musicon with children on the autism spectrum and children with various physical, social and cognitive disabilities. After many test workshops we are confident that Musicon has great potential as a therapeutic learning tool.
All the experts we’ve met, found Musicon to be a high quality, professional device which would support the therapeutic process and make the positive changes easier and fun.
“The Musicons” is a band that accompanies Musicon.
They were created as another way of interacting with children. Children are fascinated by puppets and will interact with them very easily.
The puppets help in the following ways.
- overcoming shyness,
- greater use of speech,
- encouragement of focus and interplay,
- encouragement of using the child’s imagination.

Each member of the band is also an avatar of kids' personalities:
Charlie, the Saxophone – the leader of the Musicons, who is very emotional and sensitive.
Ringo, the Drum – who is very energetic, fast and active.
Jaco, the Doublebass – who is very smart and intelligent and loves to count.
Musicon as a professional instrument:
Kamil Laszuk developed Musicon as a graduation thesis in 2011 at the Academy of Art and Design, Wrocław, Poland. It’s development was based on research into the impact that music has on children‘s psychophysical development.
While Kamil was visiting a kindergarten with his double bass he met a 2 1/2 year old deaf girl. To listen to his music Jagoda came closer and hugged the instrument. She was listening to the music with her whole body!

Musicon has family musical roots – Ida, Kamil & Filip are siblings. All of them are musicians but they work in various fields, using the skills that music has taught them.
They have been always a great team. And they became avatars of "The Musicons" band.
Kamil’s parents sold their home to make possible creating Musicon.
The bonds and support in the Laszuk family have always been very strong. When Kamil’s design was recognized all over the world his parents decided to help make his design come true. They sold the homeand became the very first investors.
It was a long journey from the idea to the real product:
We already have great support from our family, friends and partners but there is still a huge part missing – YOU! Your pledges to Kickstarter will allow us to begin production.
We could not think of anywhere better to bring Musicon to life. Kickstarter gives us an incredible opportunity to meet people who want to help make the world more beautiful, creative and sustainable. This platform is a confirmation that when you create something you love, everything is possible. We can create a revolution in musical education, together.
