The funds raised go towards making Spicy Pulp #1 a reality. That covers the creative talent, those amazing artists, colorists and designers who help me make this crazy book a reality. There are also significant costs involved with printing, shipping, supplies, Kickstarter fees, taxes and physically fulfilling all the cool rewards. If we raise above the goal that money goes toward the production and development of Spicy Pulp #2 most of which is already written.
What you see in my Kickstarter Campaigns is one person writing and dreaming up these stories and then actively seeking out talented artists to help make these ideas into a book you can, hopefully, hold in your hands.
I spent years as a "work for hire" writer on characters like Batman, Jonah Hex, Power Girl, Wolverine, Fantastic Four and hundreds of others. While there is tremendous satisfaction in seeing my childhood dream of writing comics and videogames come true, I thrill in creating something of my own with no safety net, no established continuity or marketing department to back me up. There are a whole lot of challenges and many sleepless nights but connecting directly with you on a project that you enjoy makes it worth it.
I’d like to personally thank all the readers, backers and collectors who have supported my last eight Kickstarters. Your support has been humbling and it helps get overcome so many of the hurdles that come with creating these books.
Risks and challenges
85% of the book is completed. Both short stories are done. All the pin-ups and covers are done. Diego will have his final 19 pages completed on or before May 11th, 2019. At which point I will finish assembling the book and providing it to the various printers I have lined up and worked with on multiple successful Kickstarter campaigns in the past. Unsigned books will be ready and ship first followed by signed books.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
