If you like Jerry Garcia—You will LOVE this book!
JUST JERRY is a one-of-a-kind coffee table book that includes not only my iconic photos of Jerry Garcia from 1977 to 1995, but also never-before-seen images of the man we love.
I’m asking for your help to publish this incredible curated collection of Jerry Garcia photographs in an exquisitely printed and produced large format book (9.5" x 11.5") — featuring over 150 color and black & white images, many displayed full page or larger. I pored through every single photograph of Jerry I ever took to find the most special shots to include in this collection.
This unique volume spans three decades of documenting Jerry by a single photographer.
The indelible images capture the essence of Jerry, including peak moments from concerts at venues such as Red Rocks, Winterland, Radio City Music Hall, Capitol Theater, Shoreline, Madison Square Garden, Oakland, even Europe, and so many more...
Each of the images in JUST JERRY were originally shot on film. Some are being reproduced for the first time. Even for those images you may have seen before—likely only on a computer screen—you can now see them in all their glory printed large format in premium quality.
Throughout the book there will be will be anecdotes by people who were close to Jerry as well as those with unique insight into Jerry and his music.
All of the books printed for this campaign will be Limited First Edition. Only 1,000 will be printed and they will be hand signed by Bob Minkin, contain a unique thank you page listing the names of all backers at the $60 level and up.
From my days as Senior Photographer for Relix Magazine, to my tenure as Chief Package Designer for Grateful Dead Productions, I’ve enjoyed unique access to the Grateful Dead world and insight into the music scene we love. I want to share it all with you!

Note: Once the Kickstarter project is complete, you will be contacted for your choice of print(s).
The internet has made it possible for us to enjoy many images on our computers and mobile devices, but there are still some things that cannot be replicated on a screen. A book resonates in a deeper way. There is personal investment in taking the time to turn the pages of a book and appreciate the tactile nature of the medium. Time moves differently as you pause to admire and savor the details in an image that you might have otherwise quickly scrolled past on a screen. You can pick up a book over and over again, and each time you go through it you may see different things you might not have noticed before.
Using Kickstarter as a platform for preorders allows to deliver a beautiful book directly to you for a fraction of the price. The upfront cost to produce and deliver this book is over $25,000, and Kickstarter enables me to create a high-quality, fine art coffee table book for you. Following a traditional publishing model, it would likely retail for over $100.
By preordering via Kickstarter you can own a signed copy of JUST JERRY for only $60.
In 1974 at the age of 15, Bob brought his camera to a New Riders of the Purple Sage show at the Academy of Music in NYC. It was the beginning of his long strange trip.
As Senior Photographer for Relix magazine from the 1970s to 1990s, and later, Chief Package Designer for Grateful Dead Productions, Bob has enjoyed unique access to the Grateful Dead world and insights into the music scene we love.
He has photographed thousands of concerts and countless musical artists in clubs and arenas across the USA and Europe. His photos have been featured in many books and publications including Rolling Stone, Time Magazine, Guitar Player, and Relix as well as movies such as Long Strange Trip, The Other One: The Long, Strange Trip of Bob Weir. His images also grace many music CD and DVD packages.
As an in-demand photographer throughout the SF Bay Area and beyond, he can frequently be found working and photographing shows at Terrapin Crossroads and Sweetwater Music Hall — where he is the House Photographer.
He has previously published two books, Live Dead and The Music Never Stopped.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Bob lives with his family in Marin County, CA.

Risks and challenges
I'm confident I can reach my financial goal to publish this labor of love.
Having already produced two successful Kickstarter projects — LIVE DEAD in 2014 and The Music Never Stopped in 2017 — for which all rewards were fulfilled, I foresee no risk in completing this project in the timeframe indicated and it being the highest quality possible.
I am accustomed to working with demanding schedules and tight deadlines having produced dozens of CD/DVD releases for Grateful Dead Productions, and hundreds of other print and web based projects for a variety of clients including Fortune 500 companies, startups and non-profits.
All backers will be kept apprised of the book's status as it moves along via regular updates. I can’t wait to begin production of this book!
Let's make this happen!
I'm happy to answer any questions at all regarding this project.
