Midweek Update #3 & New Sample Map
Good morning folks, and welcome to our new backers! I hope this week has been a good one for you all. It’s time for our final midweek update for The Big Book of Maps (for Tabletop Roleplaying Games). That’s right – just a little over two days to go before this kickstarter concludes and we start ramping up for content releases via the Digital Distribution Tool.
Funding progress for this project has been consistently increasing every day. Thank you! We’re unlocking more and more bonus maps and stretch goals! As I type this the project is over 1750% funded, and we’re less than 10 backers away from unlocking our 14th bonus map!
The next Super Stretch Goal is unlocked at $18K, which will add another map icon to all of our map icon sets (over 32 new icons)!
There are two Super Stretch Goals remaining at $19k and $20, each unlocks 32 new map icons. And, if we manage to reach the $20k funding level, that will also unlock the Bonus Stretch Goal that doubles the number of Mega-Dungeons included in The Big Book of Maps (for Tabletop Roleplaying Games).
With less than 60 hours to go, it’s more important than ever to get the word out about this project. Remember, every single backer puts us closer to more bonus maps being added!
New Sample Map PDF –
Today I’m adding another new sample map to the kickstarter line up! The Desert Tomb PDF includes samples of all three versions of the digital map: VTT-ready, GM Map, and Player Map.
New Lower Resolution Option –
It was brought to my attention this week that some VTT platforms have a file size limitation, and that some of the high-resolution 600 dpi maps could be too large to be utilized as-is. To provide a solution to this issue, I have added a “lower resolution” download option to the Digital Distribution Tool.
This additional option for each map will download a ZIP containing all three map versions (VTT-ready, Player, and GM) at 300 dpi. The reduction in resolution shouldn’t be noticeable for typical VTT play and ensures the files are small enough to be utilized in those instances where file size is a factor.
In Conclusion –
Running this kickstarter has been an amazing and exciting experience, and I am extremely grateful for all your support.
Work on my end has continued as the kickstarter campaign has been running. The content hosting for the maps is in place, the Digital Distribution Tool (and newly added features) is ready to roll out when funds clear, and last evening I installed the SSL certificate for secure logins to the tool.
I have already back-loaded all seven of the sample maps for delivery (so they will all be available in high-resolution the first day), and I have the first batch of weekly releases ready to schedule as soon as we have the dates firmed up.
If you haven’t yet be sure to check out this poll. The votes will determine which days the core map downloads are released each week.
Have a fantastic day everyone!
