In a Word Trans is a book that collects the popular, controversial, educational, and personal works of Trans NonBinary artist Justin Hubbell, with a twist! The book contains new comics that narrate the process, and Justin's own transition!
Perfect for folks just learning about Trans issues, or Trans folks in need of comfort, kindness, and humor! This is the first book from Divergent Press!
Justin's work was a finalist in the 2018 Prism Awards, and has been published by a number of sources to include BuzzFeed, Bustle, Everyday Feminism, UpWorthy and more. The paperback book In a Word Trans is the first for print collection of Justin's comics.
There are surprisingly few resources for Trans people in need! Your support on Kickstarter will not only complete the book's publication, but will help send the book to libraries, schools, conventions, bookstores!
Need more convincing? Read the comics, find out what the hubbub is about! <3
$1-5 backers are how to support the campaign without needing anything sent to you!
All backers at the $15 mark and up will receive PDF Version of book, bonus digital art, and previews of coming Divergent Press publications!
Bonus Digital Prints included for backs $60 and up!

Stretch Goals provide answers to the possibility of raising more money than initially asked. I've kept things pretty simple to play it safe!
$5,700: If this stretch goal is reached 501 books will go into production instead of 250! More books for more people! <3
$10,500: This amount could cover the cost of 1,000 books being put into print or be used as Seed Money for upcoming book projects! We'll cross this bridge with lots of communication if it happens!
Above $10,500: Divergent Press has three additional print/book projects in the works to include an anthology, but we're still a small operation so anything over this amount would be used those projects - which by popular demand could be the 2nd edition of this book!
It is a tremendous honor to know my work is being read, and to hear from those I have helped. The choice to make comics like this was pretty scary and without my readers I'd have never come this far. I am so grateful for you.
Huge thanks to all the folk sharing and commenting on my work, and especially my Space Coven on Patreon - they truly help me every day!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you with all my heart!
Risks and challenges
This is my first Kickstarter campaign, so the main risk/challenge here is my inexperience! I'm confidant in myself and my team but I've been told to anticipate inevitable unforeseen delays! I have ADHD, so I'm something of an expert on delays! ^_^
I'm hoping my reward/delivery estimates are realistic but they may be subject to change! Reaching stretch goals will naturally make a big impact on that.
I really look forward to communicating with everyone! My intention is to make sure this process is transparent so people can be informed. And besides, I love communication! <3Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
