DAPshow is very excited to announce the first collected volume of our long running webcomic series The Quick and Dirty Life of Fritz Fargo, by Sarah Fowlie. Fritz Fargo has been a mainstay for DAPshow ever since it first launched on November 23rd, 2010. We've been wanting to bring Fritz Fargo to print for a while now, and we are finally doing so, by collecting the first 5 years into a small run graphic novel.
Traditionally drawn in black and white, Fritz Fargo takes art inspiration from 80-90’s alternative comics. Largely a dramatic comedy, the story sincerely explores dark themes of abusive relationships, addiction, sexuality and mental illness. It is recommended for young adult readers seeking poignancy and catharsis.
The Quick and Dirty Life of Fritz Fargo is a Queer slice of life webcomic, following Johnny Simmons (Fritz Fargo), a strung out punk vocalist in the pursuit of drugs, sex and rock n' roll.
Hardly holding it together after another massive fight with his manager / songwriter / boyfriend, Fritz crash lands back into Eddie’s life. Eddie tries to make Fritz comfortable, but its clear he’s spiraling to rock bottom.
Risks and challenges
Every project comes with its own unique challenges, so it's hard to say. Our current challenge is finding a printer we feel comfortable with doing small run print runs. In the past, we've used POD or have gone with somewhat larger runs with offset printers. So, while DAPshow has published multiple books now, this specific aspect will be a bit of a new experience for us. So far, though, we're excited about what we've seen from the printers we've talked to.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
