Hello, my name is Marten Niner and I am the lead singer for a band called JUNK, also known as JUNKtheband (which is way easier for Google search purposes … you won’t find us googling JUNK).
Anyway, JUNK is also comprised of Jim Cunningham (bass), Brett Phillips (guitar), Nick Kirby (guitar) and Kris Gonzales (drums).
All of us are asking for your help!
Our second studio album (called YesIsMoreFun) is about halfway complete. It is sounding great, but we need additional funding to finish it and make it over-the-top special (plus getting CD’s, t-shirts and other fun stuff made). We have been working with a talented producer, Sean Cooney at 3-Leaf Studios to perfect the groove. He has introduced us to several amazing musicians who we would love to hire adding keyboards, vocals and horns to our sound.
We also need help with our performance equipment. As many of you know, JUNK does quite a bit of pro bono work to raise money for local charities. A lot of our equipment is over 30 years old and needs to be refurbished. We could really use a sound board, monitors and a few other things to continue our charitable (and professional) music outreach with a positive message of embracing the moment and living consciously.
This is where you come in. We are trying to raise $7,500. Yes, it is a lot of money, but we promise to do great things with it. If we are fortunate enough to exceed our Kickstarter goal, we have some fun stretch goals like a YesIsMoreFun super jam video, JUNK’s Greatest Hits vinyl record and of course, a big CD release party.
Take a look at our Kickstarter offering and please donate at least $1 if you like art, love, friendship and good music. This is a pledge and comes out of your account only if the project is fully funded and not until after May 1st, so you have plenty of time to save for the hoodie!
After all, yes is more fun.
Risks and challenges
We are asking our friends and families for a lot so the biggest challenge we face is falling short of our goal and not getting the project funded at all. Yet, our tribe is amazing and we know there is a lot of support for us, our sound and the positive message JUNK sends. Either way, we will find a way to finish the album, make do with the equipment we have and continue sharing our hearts and music with everyone who will listen … it will just take us a bit longer.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
