A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Junglewood is bringing wood products back in a new way! Since 2011, we have been making awesome bamboo sports products. With exceptional strength, the natural feel of wood, and a lightweight finished product, bamboo sports gear compare to popular synthetic materials. We have made a traditional lacrosse goalie stick that is lighter than ordinary wooden sticks and is produced faster. We blend our bamboo with Ironwood, the hardest hardwood in North America, giving us a super strong stick that is better able to withstand the force of lacrosse.
The Oshawa Blue Knights tried our Junglewood bamboo lacrosse sticks and loved it!
Junglewood has created an interactive webpage that allows customers to design their own goalie stick to meet their needs. To bring this to the next level, we need to connect this webpage with a CNC (computer numerical control) machine, that will be able to accurately start the process minutes after your purchase. Our new process will allow us to produce an eco-friendly product that is able to compete with aluminum and carbon fiber, and your support will help bring sustainable bamboo into the market.
Great reviews of the Junglewood player and goalie sticks from the Toronto Rock!
The funds raised from the campaign will go toward enhancing workshop machinery in order to meet growing demand. These improvements will change the future of the sport by increasing product accuracy, reducing turnaround time and providing a product warranty. As founder Robert Cook passionately states, “This campaign means big changes for lacrosse players and it’s all happening right here in Barrie.”
Players are loving the initial prototypes of the sticks and Laine Hruska, the goaltender for Team Canada Lacrosse says, “I love my Junglewood goalie lacrosse stick! Light weight, great balance, and an all-around great stick! I can’t wait for these to go into larger scale production.”
Risks and challenges
Using natural products always creates a risk for the environment, which is why we only use bamboo from the best farmers who engage in proper techniques so as not to disturb their natural ecosystems.
We know that lacrosse is a traditional sport, and a lot of players like to stay true to that. As lacrosse sticks are not traditionally made with bamboo, our team works hard to bring this sustainable and eco-friendly option to lacrosse teams across North America.
