Hey folks—Julie here! Wow, it's been a minute since we've done one of these campaign thingies... what has happened (besides the constant touring of the world and such)? Well we've continued to inspire each other and have written lots and lots of music, inlcuding last year's LP "From Two Balconies." But there has been another concept album secretly in the incubator for 6 whole years—longer than EchoTest has even been in existence.
Some of you might stop me here—wait, who is this EchoTest? In short, it's an unlikely band from two continents, founded by two bass players known for their work in the progressive rock community—Julie Slick (yours truly) of the Adrian Belew Power Trio + Crimson ProjeKct and Italian musician Marco Machera, who has played with Paul Gilbert and Chrysta Bell in addition to opening up for Marillion. The sound we create has been described as groovy, melodic, beautiful and evocative. Sound good? Ok, let's continue on with the nitty gritty...
Despite what our silly little video conveys, the music from the spectral "Daughter of Ocean" is actually fully recorded and mixed, thanks in part to the ongoing support from my bandcamp VIPs... I highly recommend checking that out, as I'm offering a sweet free level-up reward deal to all of my subscribers. Despite this amazing support, we still need a little bit more to be able to fund the manufacturing in physical formats, and since this is an album we consider to be truly special and grandiose, it deserves to be printed on high quality vinyl—our first (and maybe last) release on this medium.
Thank you for taking the time to check out our campaign, and we greatly appreciate your contributions!
PS—yes, that is some of the actual music from the album in the video, so if you like it, why not help us out?
Risks and challenges
Since the music is fully mixed and the artwork is almost finished, we are hoping to have the album available for download before Halloween (it's also quite spooky and this is why we're setting this as our personal deadline). Since we are planning to have the CDs and vinyls pressed overseas, realistically this may take an additional few weeks... we will try our best to have these in your hands by the start of 2019. This album has taken 6 years—we want it out in the world as much as you do!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
