I'm a freelance photographer in Birmingham, Ala. And I decided I wanted to show off a bit of my work. Much like reading a book instead of a computer screen I decided I'd like make photographs rather than post them on a website and have a show or rather two shows.
Two different shows in two venues in different parts of town. One is a project on farmers across the state of Alabama and the other is a combination of black and white circus images from a short project I worked on and a combination of images I've taken over the past few years. I probably take at least one photo a day if not more. Most of them are of things around where I live and what I see as I walk my dogs or run across throughout my day, truly my vision. Sometimes they're projects I get to work on and feel strongly about. Other times times they're just about what's around us. These are my words - these images.
Pictures shouldn't be hidden away but shared. I would like to share them with my community.
Thank you so much for spending your time checking out my Kickstarter.
I'd also like to thank:
Ryan Aubrey for working until four in the morning recording the video and then several hours piecing together the video. Not to mention the cheerleading for getting me through writing the script for the video.
Crewsouth for letting us use their studio and editing equipment.
Gary Wheat for letting me use his original music "Tiara's Circle Dance."
Which picture would you like?
Here is the selection of images for you as a backer to choose from:
A caveat about the upper level backers and the shoots that come with the $500, $1000 and $2000 levels. If the shoot is over 100 miles away from Birmingham, Ala. we'll have to negotiate the details about travel and expenses but other than that I'll pretty much travel to anywhere in the world.
Where's the Money going:
This a rounded down break down of the cost for the two shows.
Archival ink jet paper and black and white photo paper $250
Archival ink $350
Acid-free mats and mounting board $350
Black metal sectional frames $350
Black and white photo chemical $150
Gift expenses $500
Risks and challenges
The challenge of this project is the shear amount of work that needs to be done in a short amount of time. Everything from printing to cutting the mats to getting the images framed and to the site and finally hanging both shows on the same day is an overwhelming amount of time and energy. But I have done shows in the past, most recently in October, 2012 and know I can accomplish this task.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
