By 2050, the line between virtual world and real world economy had become completely entwined. Micro-transactions, strict regulations and increasing exchange rates controlled by the Elites rob the people blind. The rich grow richer and the poor are enslaved to the Elites.
Robin Hood dedicates her time and talents to ending the Elite’s strangle hold on the currently combined real world and virtual world experience. She uses every resource and skill she can muster to stop the climbing exchange rates that are bleeding people’s accounts.
However, the Elites absorb her hacker attacks unaffected. She doubts her ability to change the system or create enough awareness about the immediate future. How can she and her small group stop the downward spiral of world economy?
Her adopted father, mentor, and adversary invites her to participate in Game Days. The exclusive futuristic gladiator event pits Elite champions against each other and tests their virtual world abilities in Social V3. The winner earns virtual world championship bragging rights and a bounty fit for a king. She intends to redistribute the prize money to the backers and share the virtual bounty with users after she wins.
In this book, you’ll see how Robin deals with her defeats and victories against the Elites. She fights for the people’s hopes, dreams, and social freedom.
I’m excited to write this story because I support innovative technologies. Long ago, I had an idea to create a three dimensional room where people could experience a story. I started my journey in the late 80s and early 90s in computer science and earned a university degree in graphic design. Today, virtual worlds are a reality and they’re getting better and better. I still want to see my vision a reality, and until the technology is fully there, I’ll push the limits through stories that challenge the imagination.
I published my first two books to Amazon Kindle in 2010. I’ve also been heavily involved with the Romance Writers of America as President of Elements and co-moderator of the Kiss of Death Invisible Words loop. I’m a member of Pacific Northwest Writers Association.
Now I’m getting back to my roots and going cyberpunk with my Robin Hood novels. What better way to kick off than with Kick Starter? I’m very excited to begin this journey with my backers.
I’ll be using the funds for a professional cover artist, small batch printing (plus S&H), kick start rewards and beer.
Risks and challenges
2050 will be an exciting time for technology. Creating my dystopia without making the future dreadful will be a difficult balance. I also want it to be futuristic without being outlandish. I’m fortunate to have an incredible critique group, lethal ladies; they will help me stay true to my vision and promise. I’ll be open and transparent with my backers by asking for thoughts about my creations too.
Getting this book printed will require selecting a phenomenal printer, retaining a fabulous cover artist and model, making sure the files are production-ready, ensuring the final proof lives up to my standards, and then organizing distribution.
For the rewards I’ve got to work on designing the t-shirt and hoodies logos, incorporating feedback from backers, and managing the signing and shipping logistics.
