This book is unique! Unschooling To University outlines how a learner can self-direct their entire education and learn anything they need, anyway, anytime, anywhere and still get accepted into post-secondary institutions. Learners don't have to go to school, do online classes, or home-school with parent teaching. There are many ways and places to learn. Children don't need peers, schools and structured curriculum as much as they need caring adult relationships, unstructured time, and stimulating resources in their lives.
Many parents and children are unhappy with the present state of the school systems in North America, Asia, Australia and Europe, and yet, are unsure of homeschooling, which is often incorrectly portrayed as "hard work." Until now, parents had two choices: school or homeschool. Now there is a third choice. Unschooling is one of the fastest growing alternative education options!
Unschooling costs nothing, and in fact it saves money. The average cost of unschooling is a library card and internet access. Unschooling is fun, totally non-punitive, educational, engaging and is much less stressful than the public school environment. It develops critical thinking, innovation, creativity, communication and problem-solving - all 21st century skills that are required in a global world.
This book tells the stories of 25 unschooled kids (The Team of Twenty-Five) who were accepted or graduated colleges, universities and trade/technical schools in Canada. Almost half went into STEM careers. It outlines 12 different ways that learners can demonstrate their acquired knowledge and enter post-secondary institutions. A good portion of the book focuses on the brain science of learning and how interest-based learning is superior in motivating disengaged learners. All of the kids spent at least 6 or more years playing/self-directing their learning. They are not outliers. They are normal kids. If they can do it, anybody can! There should be as many choices in education as there are types of learners.

The book, Unschooling To University, will be published in Spring 2018. The draft is complete. It costs about $8000 for editing and layout and another $8000 to print. Help us to defray expenses and get the word out about this exciting educational alternative!
Risks and challenges
Having published two parenting books already, and sold over 50,000 copies worldwide, the risk is not in publishing. The risk is in knowing if there are people interested in learning about an alternative form of education, particularly this particular niche topic of "Unschooling."
