This project is to be viewed and understood as fan art only, and as my homage to a childhood favorite. I recognize that the characters spoken of and all rights belong to the creators, Kevin Eastman/Peter Laird/Nickelodeon/Viacom.
The idea was simple, take any existing property, place them into a new locale/setting, and create characters that would personify that world. What started as a simple character design class project, quickly turned into an obsession and a desire to completely redesign the main characters that are always found in any of the many iterations.
I wanted to design these characters in a completely different light that has not been seen before. This was to be a simple story, and I was amazed at how perfectly these characters fit into a classic Western setting. My one main rule was that beyond that fact that there are humanoid turtles that exist, this was not the typical scifi/comic universe, just a pure old fashioned spaghetti western. Some of my references were based off of some of my favorite western movies The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Tombstone, A Fistful of Dollars, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the newest, True Grit and Rango. Those movies coupled with the original TMNT comics, Afro Samurai, Red Dead Redemption and other cartoons/comics. All the while keeping the core ideas of the what the personalities of each character are, while establishing them into a 1880's western setting.
Color was one of main focuses for this project. Each character is meant to personify the mood with their established color, and I think that it compliments each print. With these prints, I wanted my artwork to be seen, and after some suggestions from friends, I decided that Kickstarter would be the best way to show these characters off, and get them out to other TMNT fans.
I have already had a successful Kickstarter with a good friend of mine Dr. Franz Potter which can be seen here http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/226371142/monsters-and-mushrooms-saving-the-19th-century-got where my artwork coupled with Dr. Potters passion to save these stories found new life and were revitalized and brought into a new century for a newer audience.
Presently I am honored to be the artist for my friends Max Mahaffa and Jonathan Oberto's Amazing Gladiator Card Game "Enter the Arena" http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/prometheangames/enter-the-arena which is blowing up on Kickstarter as we speak, and I highly suggest you check out this great upcoming game.
The funding for this project is simple, I plan on doing a limited run of the prints and when they are sold they are sold. No more will be made, and those that want them will have them. My plans right now is to make 25 prints of each character. If I am fortunate to have a greater interest, then I will raise the production of the prints. But my goal is to offer these prints to people who want them, and see them appreciated by TMNT fans.
The money raised will go for the cost of the prints, supplies, and shipping, and if perhaps I raise over the amount of $2,000. I plan to produce a sketchbook detailing all my ideas for the project that will accompany all pledges of $60 dollars or more. If I were to reach more, everyone who gives $15 and over will receive a original work, and as of yet surprise rewards.

Thank you so much for viewing my project.
Risks and challenges
My kickstarter is simple, and with the money raised, I do not anticipate any problems. It will be a simple production run, and you will have your orders on time. The artwork is fully complete and what you see displayed is the prints you will be getting (minus the property owned tags), so there is no hangup on the art. Other than those factors, everything is smooth sailing! Thank you again.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
