Broderick is an original crime noir story done as a comic book. Jack Broderick is a violent member of the 1940’s Chicago underworld who is out for revenge after the Chicago crime syndicate tries to bump him off. It is planned to be a four issue run with the option of continuing the story in future 4-12 issue series.
Jack Broderick wakes up to find himself abandoned and alone. Head pounding from the drugs and beatings it took to get Jack all the way from Chicago to New Mexico, the phone suddenly rings. Jack answers it to find his partner in crime Nicky on the other end of the line. Nicky explains to Jack that the organization has gotten tired of Jack’s careless and overly violent way of doing things, and has decided to send him off with a bang. All Jack can do is run to the front door and watch as the bomb explodes in the distance and wait for his fate.
Jack wakes up, weak and riddled with radiation poisoning, in the army base hospital southeast of Socorro, New Mexico. With not much time left to live, and a score to settle, Jack heads back to the windy city to find the rats that did this to him and save what pieces are left of himself in the process.

The Creative Team
Jay and Ron have been working on comic books since they were teenagers. Their career began while hanging out at the local comic shop and buying whatever new releases their allowance could afford. Jay was always an aspiring artist and Ron has always wanted to be a famous writer. The first story and character they ever came up with was called Afterburner. Jay drew him in different poses and Ron made up stories about his adventures in fighting crime. They even went as far as making sweatshirts with an embroidered caricature of Afterburner and wore them around their high school like the nerds they were, and still are today.
What makes Jay and Ron's work special? Well, their stories and commitment to bringing the best possible product they can to their fans. They were first published in the late 90’s with a story called "The Prophecy". In order to get that story published Jay and Ron submitted an idea with a finished script and some rough pages to a local comic publisher called Panther Comics. There was a voting period in which people could get on the website and vote for their favorite comic. In a pure surprise to Jay and Ron, they WON! It was the happiest day of their young lives and the comic book was on store shelves around Colorado.
Now, a decade and a half later, the boys are finally back with an all new story that they are super proud of and can’t wait to tell. With the help of Tony, one of the most talented up-and-coming colorists, they finally get a new story into your hands!
Why Are We Using Kickstarter?
We talked for months about what the best way to release Broderick to our fans was and, in the end, we decided on using Kickstarter. It all came down to how much we love being in our booth at conventions and getting to interface with people. It is our profound pleasure getting to meet the people who enjoy our work and hearing what we did well and what we can do to make it better. Without all of you, our artistic careers would have ended a long long time ago. Therefore, it only makes sense that we involve our fans and supporters to make this book with us.
