So who are these three characters and where do they come from? What has happened before this new story takes hold of our cast? Taken from the introduction page of issue 13 are these details of the three characters featured in Apocoliptic Dreams #13:
Originally called C-1 Anti-Criminal Device, Adler Hill was an ex-cop who’s body was harvested by General Perniss, a madman bent on the creation of super-soldiers at the cost of their humanity. By implanting chips and performing genetic experiments on his subjects, General Perniss creates a series of super soldiers who eventually are freed by a secret government task force known as The Deck. The Gunslinger hosts the C-1 chip, which gives him certain kinetic abilities like force fields and electrical charge dispersion.
Gaiden is a force of power that carries on throughout generations and selects a host that
will channel that power into corporeal form. The original Gaiden story followed a lonely individual who was killed early on and during his journey to death searched for the purpose of his origin, eventually ending with a reincarnation into an unknown newborn child.
Michael Nazareth’s family has carried a secret with itself for ages, the secrets of the shadows. Since the dawn of time, the shadows have watched the universe develop, and each generation there are a select few who can communicate with the shadows, learn their secrets, and harness their powers. Michael comes from a long line of these select few, and has been
heralded as the harbinger of a new golden age as the chosen one. For nearly as long, the shadows have been at odds with a family of devils, Molloch the Conqueror and his children. Culminating with Michael’s transformation to the ultimate Shadow Weaver, the series ended with him trying to return to his normal life.
So that sums up what has happened before to the characters you'll meet in issue #13.
