Jackpot! is the epic new zombie survival gameshow card game designed by Joyride Games for mature audiences. A slick combination of survival and inventory management gameplay with an exciting mix of continuously changing goals and a huge arsenal of weapons makes for fresh gameplay every time. These features alongside a deep fictional flavour, a tonne of tongue-in-cheek pop culture references and a sharp, colourful, art style combine to create a unique game experience for players to get their teeth into!
What Are The Key Game Features?
Jackpot! is a non-collectable card game for 2 – 4 players. Your mission is to help your chosen contestant survive an onslaught of the undead while trying to win cash during different gameshow events, so that you can buy more and more (and more) weapons to survive for longer. The last player to be eaten alive is the winner!! While doing all of this, why not try mess up the game plans of the other contestants with special item cards too?
The game can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. You may want to play it safe and survive or take some risks to win big. There are bucket loads of choices to make during each 30 – 60 minute game and lots of room to learn skills and show off to your n00b buddies. The randomised elements make each new game exciting. One minute you can be flashing the cash and the next you might be struggling through a horde of five BOSS zombies.

- A “shop” deck of weapons and items such as pot lids and viagra.
- A zombie deck containing a hand selected assortment of rotting corpses.

Please note: all of what is listed here is already present in the prototype, but much of it is currently early production. Kickstarter funding will help us push the game to the highest quality of final production possible. It already looks awesome, but we want to make your eyes explode with happiness!!

What Will Kickstarter Money Do?
The monetary input here will be vital in allowing us to produce the final game/product and push it to the highest standard possible. Joyride Games is still a very young company and thus does not yet have the resources available to produce its own products without funding. You will not only be helping to make a game for everyone to enjoy but also helping Joyride Games make many more enjoyable games for you to play in the future!
All of the funds raised will go toward the printing, delivery and polishing of the final product so that we can allow it to reach YOU and as many other players as possible. Even though the team is small, experienced, have great visions and are hugely motivated – they also still need to eat. (We haven’t quite mastered not eating yet.) So, your contribution can make a huge difference in keeping us working on what we (and you) love instead of working for <insert fast food chain name here>.
The funding will also allow Joyride Games to bring more people in to work on the game full time. I think the zombies will agree with us that more brains equal a better product!
Stretch goals are additional features that we can put into the final product if we hit higher levels of funding. We have several different ideas for this including adding expansion packs and more items into the core game.

But Who Are You Guys?
Joyride Games is mainly a one man production house. To help with the production of Jackpot! however, there is also a part-time artist and a small supporting cast of freelance playtesters, artists and designers. If the Kickstarter funding goes well then these part time workers will hopefully form a more permanent, full-time, team.
The lead artist and game designer is Joyride’s founder - Jamie Keddie, a professional artist and self-taught games designer. Jamie graduated with a first class animation honors degree in early 2011, after art directing short film D’ARK, and moved straight into work in Glasgow, Scotland, where he produced assets, concept art and matte paintings for animations commissioned by large companies such as Capcom and Sony. Jamie recently created 2D assets for Sony’s upcoming game based on the work of J.K.Rowling – Book of Spells. He has had a lifelong interest in games, both traditional and digital, and spends a lot of free time designing fun game ideas and artwork.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are usually many challenges in any creative project. We have kept Jackpot! as close to the basics as possible, to create a fun game experience and to minimise risks where possible. We are not making a digital game (yet!) so we have no complications regarding coding errors or distribution platforms. The team is also experienced - knowing what problems may arise and how to tackle them if they happen. Most importantly however, we have been rigorously playtesting Jackpot! and will continue to do so throughout the design process. And it’s a damn fun game!
The other foreseeable challenge is the printing process. We need to print thousands of cards to offer everyone the product we want to. So, finding the best print quality and at the best price, in bulk, will possibly be our biggest challenge. We have several options right now but we will make sure we make the right choices to offer you the best possible final product.
Then finally fulfillment! Depending on how many backers there are and what rewards, options and stretch goals are met - our workload at this stage could be hugely variable. We are confident that with the help of our team we can handle these issues, after the project is complete, with the same attitude as we would with any other challenge. All shipping outside of the UK is charged at £5 extra as we will send via International signed for airmail to make sure it reaches you!
