"Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning."
It seems no one is safe from cancer these days, there are so many different types and causes. As we all live longer, we are no longer surprised to learn a dear friend or family member has been diagnosed with cancer. But that doesn't make the pain any easier for the patient or for the loved ones. In this true story, a mother and daughter are each diagnosed with cancer, just months apart.
Like cancer attacking another organ within a body, daughter Rebecca was soon diagnosed after her mother's battle had already begun. "I want my hair back! I want my life back!" Rebecca's messages of strength and support are put to the test.
The people at SCS Films have experience making movies and want to share this story with as many others as possible. In order to reach the most people, SCS is seeking funds for the film's development. With the help of your contribution, the film can be viewed by a large audience and the family's lessons, fear, and love can be shared.
Any contribution is appreciated and all donations will go to making "Joy..." the best movie it can be. But even if you do not contribute to this project, we urge you to find a copy of the book to read, the story is emotional and inspiring. Book Link
Risks and challenges
SCS Films is determined to make the production of "Joy Comes in the Morning" a success. All approvals and commitments have been satisfied and the only remaining task is to get the final resources necessary to ensure filming and post-production can be completed.
That is why SCS has set a relatively modest monetary goal of $35,000. When you compare the multi-million dollar budgets of Hollywood movies, you can see that this modest amount has been carefully calculated and will go to very specific aspects of the film. SCS knows what must be done to complete a movie and to do it right. Beginning with production aspects like the soundtrack, color, and script, SCS will use all contributions toward the production and distribution.
"As an oncologist, I highly recommend this moving and inspirational real-life story. I see cancer patients and their families struggling with this difficult disease every day. This book has the ability to help support them through their fight and empower them to battle this disease." -Joseph M. Koenig, M.D.
"When Rebecca M. Shepard and her mother, Jessie M. Lockett, decided to share the story of their cancer journey, their motivation was to help other women avoid the pitfalls they encountered and to herald the advantages of early detection. Their presentation is eloquent and I am honored to have been allowed to share in the preparation of this must-read book." -Russ Musarra, Akron Beacon Writer/EditorLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
