Exhibition of Blown Glass Art
$3,755

Each year my partner and I travel from California to Colorado to attend the National Space Symposium in April. We would like to take a number of our larger blown glass sculptures to share with the attendees. In the space field, many of the professionals have had little exposure to space art, and even less exposure to blown glass pieces, let alone the combination of space art made from blown glass! While exhibiting, we educate the attendees to the process of blowing glass, creating artwork, and how that relates to what they do. Since our sculptures are kinetic and have historical spaceflight artifacts embedded into them, the attendees can also have a rich experience manipulating the pieces and pouring through the hidden encasements looking for and learning about the embedded historical artifacts.
We have an exhibit space set aside for us to set up our display. We will be showing glass sculptures from the small blown glass rocketship necklaces to the larger sculptures depicting our beautiful Earth, the majestic rings of Saturn, and the turbulent storms of Jupiter. We also have several huge kinetic installation pieces that show how the planets of the solar system interact with each other and the central Sun, similar to this mobile.
Our largest piece, though, is the grand sculptural installation that we will be presenting to the attendees throughout the conference. This beautiful work of glass art stands over 7 feet tall and weighs close to 350 pounds. It has a lighting system to let the glass glow and each of the blast clouds from the blown glass rocketship contains a little piece of space history, from Apollo and Gemini, to Cassini and the Space Shuttles.
By exhibiting our artwork at this show, we increase the knowledge and acceptance of art in the professional world. So many corporations are under the impression that they do not use artwork when it really is essential! They don't seem to think that their ads, even their logo, was created by someone as an art piece. By showing and educating them about how important artwork is, and how it is indeed useful in the corporate world, we can excite and engage more people to the advantages of looking past their own box and into the beautiful "what-if" of our own world and the worlds beyond, with artwork.
The project will help to cover the expenses of this exhibit, which includes the shipping of the glass pieces and the materials needed to display and secure the artwork. These expenses are approximately $3,500 that we need to raise to allow us to go and display this exhibit.
Thank You for your time, and for your interest in what we do. And if you could share this with your friends, that would be fantastic!!!
You may see the many sculptures offered for the various Pledge Levels on our Kickstarter Rewards page. And if you know of some of our pieces that aren't listed as rewards and you're interested in trading them out, just write me and we can work it out so you get exactly what you'd like. If you're NOT familiar with all the other stuff we do, take a look at GlassSculpture.Org.
