Stretch goal 1: USE YOUR OWN PEN & EVEN PAPER

A 12 personas les gusta

Since we reached our initial funding target of £100k, we’ve been busy working out how best to say thank you to all our backers! We’ve taken on board your feedback and we are excited to announce:

£175K TARGET: USE YOUR OWN PEN & EVEN PAPER

Because we want Joto to be as open as possible, if we reach our target, all Jotos will come with two new add-ons:

  • a generic pen holder, so that you can use a wide range of both whiteboard pens and paper pens
  • the ability to draw on paper with Joto

We'll include one pen holder that will take a range of pens with every Joto if we reach our new goal.

Whilst we think the awesome thing about Joto is that it can be refreshed and wiped clean, we understand that people want to Jot on paper too, with different pens, so we wanted to make that possible.

HELP US GET THERE

But to make this a reality, we still need your help to reach our stretch goal. One way you can help us reach £175k is by sharing the campaign with your friends.

Let's reach the stretch goal and open up the possibilities for Joto!

@Joto I'm sure it's a hard thing to get right for everybody. I don't think it sounds bad and will grow on me. Would definitely want more videos with sound to hear what different drawing sound like. Could even make a competition out of it? Guess the scene from the sound :)
      Again thanks for the replys,
      Cheers D

@David - We don't think the microphone is doing it justice! One of the many comments people say is they like the musical noises Joto make. We're currently upgrading motor drivers from our current prototype ones so the sounds of Joto are continuously improving.

@Joto had guessed as much on the colour :) There was sound, had to turn my phone all the way up. Seemed a bit "squeaky" bit retro I think. Hope dogs don't mind it! Any way to dampen the sound more?

@David - of course we'll make sure we let you print your own - and improve the designs ;-) Note the colour of the holder is just SLS printed prototypes. And with regards to sounds the video should have some on Vimeo?

Will you release the .stl file for the pen holder so we can customise the colour etc? And would still like a video with sound (to hear the Joto working) please :)
      Cheers D

@Marsha - this is definitely an experimental add on for the makers out there! But don't worry we'll make some templates for paper sizes so you to know where Joto will draw and also have a setting switch for custom pen users, so it doesn't put the pen in the dock for instance. With regards to the surface - we're looking into making as many parts user replaceable as possible but it does of course all depend on Kickstarter pledge numbers.

      Awesome!

Will Joto need to be told which size paper has been inserted? I'm wondering how it will know where to draw so it won't miss its mark and accidentally write with pen on the board because it couldn't detect paper size, lol. It's a serious question, but I can see it happening and me going oh &$@*! -- my Joto is ruined with pen!!

Makes me wonder if there shouldn't be a way to replace the entire white board should something like the above happen, if it gets worn, if it gets damaged by curious kids or pets, etc.
