Yes Joto has a neat custom pen, designed so it doesn’t stick out from your wall.

Joto has a special dock that the pen automatically returns to after a jot. The dock acts as an inkwell that allows the pen to soak up ink and refill. So no need for lids or changing the pen.

We're still finalising our refill costs as it’s dependant on how many backers we have on Kickstarter.
Rest assured Joto won't be following the expensive inkjet cartridge model of consumables! We're looking at creating a more sustainable system and initially Joto will be compatible with standard third party dry-erase ink as well as our own refills. We want to make the system as open as possible so you should be able to source something locally.

It really depends on how often you're jotting and how complex the drawing however as the nib automatically docks when not in use it won’t dry up like a normal pen when you forget to put the lid back on.

The first generation of Jotos will draw in a single color because we wanted to get Joto into the hands of our community as soon as possible. We’d love to prioritise future developments such as different colour pens based on what the community feeds back to us.

Joto doesn't draw on paper but on a wipeable surface much like a whiteboard. This means Joto can draw and erase your jots whenever you’re ready.

Joto has an eraser bar hidden underneath the moving gantry, we're still finalising the exact specification, but it uses an eraser that wipes the surface clean whenever you’re ready to jot something new.

Those is a UK based startup but we’re also a multilingual design studio and we’d love for Joto to speak your language. Joto will launch in English but we'll be adding support for other languages as soon as we can.
Joto is capable of drawing any vector line work but the text to jot functionality will be launching with Latin alphabet to begin with.Last updated: -
We want to give people access to Joto locally via USB and perhaps bluetooth alongside the cloud platform.
We’re planning on releasing an open source firmware for local connections but for the cloud platform we may not be able to release certain aspects for security reasons.
We've also done a bit of hacking with NodeRED so we’d like to release some modules for those who’d like to tinker.
Our focus is on building a community around Joto; making it as open and accessible as possible is a big part of that!

This is definitely on our list. We’ve designed the Joto app to allow makers and tinkerers to build further integrations with all the other open software they use.

Joto can be controlled directly from it’s app using the built-in functionality. Joto primarily interprets vector art such as SVG files. We want to make it as easy as possible to use Joto so we’ll be adding the ability to convert different formats via the app including filters to convert jpegs.

Yes, Joto's app is web based, so it will be available on most of your favourite operating systems.

Yes you'll be able to keep all the art from 365 days of art to redraw anytime you like. The Jots will be exclusive to 365 subscribers so they'll be special limited editions.

Whilst we think the awesome thing about Joto is that it can be refreshed, we get that people want to experiment with paper. We're not going to stop you. We've got a few things up our sleeve to allow people to use paper to create and make amazing things.

We get that Joto needs to be communal and shared so we've thought about how this can work.
Here are the options we've planned for to start with:
- Have multiple Jotos on one account
You can control each one individually from one app. So you would select which Joto you want to send to.- Have one Joto per accounts
Different users are admins to have control of each Joto- Friends & Sharing
We're working hard to make it easy for Joto users to make friends with other Joto users. You might be in the same house, or just members of the community. You will be able to give different permissions for being able to send and control each others Jotos. We're still working out some of the user experience details behind this as you can imagine this gets quite complex quite quickly!!
