AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY LEADERS SAY:

“There is no reason Australia can’t be competitive in Supercars.World class capability already exists in automotive design, engineering, development, testing and production. Unlike mass market vehicles, low production volumes, high labour costs, the “high dollar”, and a small domestic market are largely irrelevant. In the wake of decisions to leave Australia by the mass market automobile manufacturers, JOSS is an exciting Australian start-up with global appeal.” - Gavin Smith, President, Robert Bosch (Australia) Pty Ltd.

“As the promoter of the world’s ultimate tarmac rally that provides the perfect environment for the Supercars of the world to showcase their technology, we are extremely excited to help in bringing an Australian supercar, the JOSS JP-1, to life and one day see it take on the world at Targa Tasmania." - Mark Perry, Event Director, Targa Australia Pty Ltd.

“The JOSS project shows innovation, engineering excellence and a true belief that Australia can compete on a global scale. We wish the team the best of luck and look forward to working with JOSS in utilising as many Australian suppliers and capability as possible.” – Richard Reilly, CEO, FAPM

WHAT IS JOSS?

JOSS is an Australian automotive company founded in 1998 with the sole purpose of developing an international supercar that will be marketed in America, Europe and the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. The first five vehicles are to be built and sold as ‘Track Specials’, which will allow their owners to experience the most extreme performance parameters while demonstrating the abilities and agility of the vehicle, and showcasing a unique and individual vehicle.  Visually, these first five vehicles will be based on the JOSS JP1 design (pictured above on Top Gear magazine and throughout this document) but with much more aggressive styling.  We anticipate a top speed of 340km/h and acceleration from 0–100km/h in or around 3.0 seconds - with performance that will be akin to LeMans or GT race cars.

JOSS is not also not a start-up company.  This is not funding one man's whim or a pipe-dream.  More, this is helping take a company that has built a car, run it as a prototype, learnt from these lessons and now taken the design and engineering one enormous step forward.  The partners required to deliver this are fully in-tune with the requirements and have committed their support.  The design is finalised as these images, and the JOSS website demonstrates.  From CFD to suspension - the parameters are in place to deliver on the concept - if the funding allows us to.

Beyond these initial five units being built, it is our intention to use the investment obtained to then develop the vehicles to comply with the small manufacturer compliance criteria in the UK which will open the doors to road use of the JOSS in many European countries.

Once cash flow positive, we intend to broaden the reach of the vehicle further to offer a completely global, road compliant version which will form the cornerstone of our company’s product range.

The Kickstarter capital raise of AUD$480,000 will not only allow us to build the first JOSS Track Car but even more importantly, fund the final engineering, design and overall development, which will then allow us to take successive orders and deliver to our customers. Your pledge will  ensure JOSS is market ready.  Remember - to finish first, first you must finish!

Our JOSS team consists of experts from around the world with vast experience in Formula One, Le Mans, V8 Supercars and OEM production vehicle engineering, sales and marketing. Our core team has more than 200 years combined experience in the best automotive companies from around the world and covers all vehicle development aspects such as race engineering, OEM engineering, design, tooling, composites, regulation compliance, costing, branding, marketing and administration…………you’re in good hands.

JOSS NOW:

Our brief, and our intention, is to develop a high-end competitor in the ever growing track day car segment, co-habiting with the likes of million dollar plus brands such as McLaren, Pagani, Ferrari, Porsche and Koenigsegg, yet at a more economical cost to the customer. Our car will be lightweight and will be very efficient as a track car due to its large power to weight ratio and extreme levels of both mechanical and aerodynamic grip. This car will not be road legal due to its overall package being based solely on the best track performance available but JOSS then aims to produce a road legal version in the not too distant future – based on this very car.

 FAQ:

·Question: How much will the JOSS Track Cars cost?

Answer: The individual cars will cost approx AUD $600,000 but this final price will depend upon the final specification of the vehicle.

·Question: Will the first cars be available to all countries?

Answer: Yes, they will. The first vehicles will be sold ex-factory and will be up to the new owner to organise shipping, local taxes, etc.

·Question: Is the red car in the images the ‘Track Car’?

Answer:No, the images of the red car are based directly from current surface scan data from our full size clay car. The ‘Track Car’ version with be a modified version of this that will generate even greater downforce and vehicle stability.

Risks and challenges

Every project has risks. We all know that. However, how will we overcome the challenges that are thrown at us?

Firstly, JOSS is not a new start-up company. We've had many highs and lows and overcome them and we will continue to do this. As for what we might face - well, there is always the unexpected, and this means we have to continue to excel at what we do. This is a volunteer project - none takes a salary so we focus on delivering the final result. We have existing shareholders who have invested to get us this far and they demand results. So for us, the focus is on delivering.

And we have strong partners in the industry - ones who are committed to helping us make this a success and by using their talents and engineers, we have an excellent chance of overcoming these obstacles.

The key items we would face will be getting the final set-up right, to ensure this truly is a track-based supercar that does what it sets out to do - and with additional refinement and testing we can accomplish this. Costings are always difficult but we have a small contingency and given the nature of the budget, and the crucially tight control of costs, we aim to be very selective with any expenditure.
