About this project
September 22: ***Additional world information: Many of you have asked for additional information about the world of Quantum. You can find a great deal in the earlier updates to the original Kickstarter here: http://kck.st/tHWXCx
As a shortcut, though, here are the key videos:

September 22: ***HOW TO ADD $45/$55 TO YOUR PLEDGE TO GET A COPY OF THE QUANTUM RPG CORE RULEBOOK: When you click "Back this Project" you'll be taken to a page where you select your pledge level. After selecting your pledge level, manually add an additional $45 for US addresses and $55 for International addresses at the top of the pledge choice area. Then continue to follow the directions for completing the pledge.
September 19: ***STRETCH GOALS HAVE CHANGED! Thanks to popular demand, we've changed the rewards for the $40k, $45k, and $50k stretch goals. Now any backer who pledges $45 or more to the project receives a PDF of the adventure in each stretch goal and any backer who pledges $90 or more to the project receives a PDF and soft-cover print-on-demand book of the adventure in each stretch goal. Supporters pointed out (quite rightly) that only rewarding the $90+ backers after the $40k stretch goal was counter-productive and we agree. The graphics below have been updated.
Akyrema City is all that's left from the Time Before, the world of Quantum as it was before the terrible apocalypse a millennium ago. It's a shining city crammed full of ultra modern, sleek, futuristic design and technology. It's not out of place to see a medieval knight in full plate armor atop an armored steed pushing through the well-dressed crowds on a concrete lane, a dozen floating video screens floating above screaming the latest news and advertising.
Akyrema City is the core of Quantum; the beating heart of an entire world struggling to rebuild. It's also the base of the Progenancy, the world-spanning, highly regimented organization self-tasked with gathering and controlling all remnants of Spark, the future technologies from the Time Before. Akyrema City is the source of Quantum's commerce, government, and technology—and the base from which a thousand adventures a year are launched, sending Quantum's Heroes into The Wilds in search of fame and fortune.
Akyrema City: Quantum's Core is a 256-page hardcover book with full color covers and black and white interiors. It covers everything about Quantum's largest city: history, geography, demographics, economy, transportation, politics and government, crime and punishment, education, culture, military, the five districts, the district below, the slums beyond the wall, outlying towns, new gear (armor, weapons, and equipment), 24 new beasts and foes, and a small chapter dedicated to helping Guides build their own Akyrema City Quantum Roleplaying Game campaign, including methods to quick-start immediate encounters or entire (multi-encounter) adventures.
Akyrema City Demographics
Population: 12.9 million citizens (Human 63%, Azi 22%, Automaton 11%, Mutant 4%)
Largest Zañtêush (District): Mizhdem Fra-kar (Market Circle; 5.1 million)
Other Zañtêush: Azizañtuma (Snaketown; 1.5 million), Dâmizañtuma (The Progenancy; 250,000), Nasa Vastra (Demon’s Garb; 4.2 million), and Verethra Zrayangh (Repel Bay; 2.1 million)
Akyrema City Pronunciation Guide
The Five Districts of Akyrema City retain their names from the Time Before even though the language in which the names are written is lost. Even the term “Five Districts” is just the modern translation of Pañca Zañtêush, the official name of the megalopolis’s neighborhoods. Below are both the modern and Time Before names for each district along with a pronunciation guide. Wealthy citizens, government officials, or members of The Progenancy are much more likely to use the names from the Time Before. Ordinary citizens are more likely to use the modern names.
Five Districts: Pañca Zañtêush | PAHN-chah zhahn-tuuh-OOSH |
Snaketown: Azizañtuma | ahh-ZHEE-zhahn-TUUH-mah |
The Progenancy: Dâmizañtuma | daah-mi-ZHAHN-tuuh-mah |
Market Circle: Mizhdem Fra-kar | MIZH-dehm frah-KAR |
Demon’s Garb: Nasa Vastra | NAH-sah FAH-strah |
Repel Bay: Verethra Zrayangh | fu-RETH-rah ZHRAY-oong |
Pañca Zañtêush (Five Districts)
Akyrema City is a walled ultra-modern city inside which are five unique districts.
Snaketown is a cliff-side district almost entirely populated by azi and automatons. It's unique population has led to unique architectural design.
Dâmizañtuma (The Progenancy)
This district is the headquarters of The Progenancy, the world-spanning organization in control of all technology on Quantum. Akyrema City is under the complete control of The Progenancy, with a puppet government as its face.
Mizhdem Fra-kar (Market Circle)
Market Circle is the world of Quantum's financial hub. Primarily comprised of skyscrapers and high rise buildings, Market Circle buzzes with activity during the day and turns into a violent war zone by night, completely controlled by marauding gangs of humans and illegal mutants.
Nasa Vastra (Demon's Garb)
Despite its ominous name, Demon's Garb is the nicest district in Akyrema City. This is where the city's most influential and wealthy citizens reside, atop a cliff that overlooks the entire city.
Verethra Zrayangh (Repel Bay)
Repel Bay is the seafaring trade center of Akyrema City. It's awash in the stench of a dozen nations and boils with activity day and night.
Immediately outside the walls of Akyrema City sprawls Âhitica, also known as Filthy Hill. Filthy Hill is a bustling shanty town comprised mostly of humans and mutants. There are further districts, too, beneath Akyrema City as well as outlying towns grouped together as one district far beyond the city's walls.
