Milky issue #1 (of 4) - a fresh comedy/sci-fi comic book
A nervous milkman leads the ignorant residents of Crafton Hill in a daring rescue after his lifelong crush is abducted by aliens…
Hi everyone! Well, looks like we didn't make it this time - but we will return armed with everything we've learned for another swing at it very soon.
That means better value rewards, a more engaging social media experience with behind-the-scenes content and a new campaign goal based only on printing costs (we'll take care of production expenses - kidneys now on eBay!)
Thank you so much everyone who backed us. Your support has really meant a lot. We won't let you down next time.
What's the story?
For village milkman Vikinder Singh (“Milky” to the residents of Crafton Hill), everyday is a roundhouse kick to his self-esteem.
He gets screamed at in the street by a racist old lady, people steal from his milk float and the new supermarket is taking his customers.
The best part of Milky’s day is delivering a bottle of semi-skimmed to pharmacist Lucy Bell. If only he could tell her how he really feels...
But on the morning he decides to do exactly that, Lucy and the village women are abducted by friggin’ scary aliens - and it's up to Milky to mount a rescue...
Milky is a four-issue story packed with humour, emotional drama and a huge climactic battle.
It’s a story for mature readers who enjoy underdog heroes, exploding alien skulls and foul-mouthed old bitches with shotguns...
Why should I care?
We hope you feel inspired to support Milky #1 because it sounds like a cool story you'd enjoy.
This first 22-page issue is written with fun, irreverence and a lot of heart in mind. Probably right up your street if you like a bit of Mark Millar, Edgar Wright, James Gunn...
Milky was born out of the idea that if people were able to let go of their fears for a second and speak honestly with each other, they’d probably realise they had a lot more in common than they thought.
So we wanted to tell that story, but with, like, aliens and explosions and stuff!
Where does the money go?
The funding goal factors in fair rates for the artists, printing and shipping costs.
Print issues are 10€, which is a little on the steep side, but does include international shipping (it'll be sent from Spain) and the writer would be happy to sign it with some sort of cute message if you ask him nicely.
For anyone unfamiliar with how Kickstarter works: you are only charged if the project reaches its goal. If it doesn't, your money stays with you, but you don't get any rewards either. 😔
We’ll strive to offer some sweet stretch goals if we surpass the total, but there’s also three more issues to make and we’d like put any extra money towards completing the story.

Risks and challenges
The production of Milky issue #1 is already complete - but we really need your help to keep things moving and pay the artists what they need to feed their babies and suchlike.
We'll start the process of getting digital and print copies out to backers as soon as the campaign is funded.
As long as we hit the funding goal, it should be smooth sailing for issue #1. Again, if we don't reach it your money stays with you, we'll learn from the experience and try again soon.
And if that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait until it's published as a complete collection around Summer 2019.
But c'mon. Who's got time for that sort of thing?Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
