Production Update #5
Phew. What a weekend.
Gabe and I spent some quality time together in the workshop and did all of the dirty work on all of the front forks. This may seem like a small step, but for us it was huge. We had a very difficult time finding a shop that would do this step for us at a price that wouldn't put us out of business. With a brainstorming breakthrough from our machinist friend Dave at RAS Manufacturing, we were able to create a unique fixture that allowed us to do these on our own, with relative efficiency and virtually no additional expense.
Next, they'll be mitered to length, then handed over to our capable welder. The rear forks will follow right in line. This is a big deal for our timeline. It means we're just a few steps away from getting these ready to send out.
- Front fork welding
- Rear fork cutting, then welding
- QC Inspection
All of these things will be coming together in the next few weeks. There's still variability in the schedule for the reasons discussed in previous updates, but we're really nearing the end and delivery is in clear sight.
In other exciting news, we've been ordering the rest of the components for the bicymples, so our shop space is becoming filled up with boxes of parts. Here are a few snapshots:
We're incredibly excited to be this far along and we owe it all to our backers here on Kickstarter! Thanks to all of you! The bicymple is coming!
