About this project
"I think of myself as an explorer who has spent his life on a long voyage of discovery"
-- Paul Strand, Photographer
**UPDATE** We already have over 150 photographers who have RSVP'd to attend our free photowalks! This project has so many people who are counting on its success!
Designed as a revolutionary and interactive learning experience, America By Rail, will allow photography lovers around the world to take an active role in Jordana and Cassius Wright's voyage of discovery across the Western United States. Featuring iconic American cities like New Orleans, Chicago, San Antonio, Portland, Los Angeles, and Yuma along Amtrak's railway system, this adventure in photography is sure to provide incredible experiences and unique opportunities at every stop along the way. Anyone can contribute to the project by participating in live Google+ Hangouts, sponsoring a part of the journey, or even joining the adventure at an America By Rail Photowalk in any of eight cities.
Photographers have long searched for an ideal means of online image sharing, communication, advice, and peer review. With thousands of active photographers, (and counting) Google+ has emerged as an incredible resource for photographers around the globe. Suddenly, there exists a larger, more cohesive photographic community, unfettered by distance or language barriers. It is upon the momentum of Google+'s success that the America By Rail project was conceived.
Imagined as an opportunity to take that online community one step further as an interdisciplinary adventure in travel and art, America By Rail will introduce photographers, who have admired and supported each other's work online, in an epic face-to-face photography marathon.
Jordana and Cassius are determined to experience each stop to its fullest along their 45 day journey. Talented and renowned photographers have been recruited to lead photowalks -- each free and open to the public -- in eight major cities. Photographers of all ages and experience levels are welcome to join, make new friends in the industry, and explore unique and incredible locations through the lens. We'll even be giving away Giftcards, donated by B&H Photo, to one lucky participant at each of our photowalks!

What we need...
Because of the scope of this trip, we need to raise a lot of money for things like hotels, train tickets, daily food, car rentals, etc. A full list of what we need to make this trip a possibility is available in our Press Kit:
The thing about kickstarter is... it's all or nothing. If we don't receive our full project budget through donations, all donations are refunded and the trip will not be possible. We truly appreciate any and all help spreading the word about what we're trying to do. Can't make a donation yourself, but believe in our project? Share us on facebook, google+, email, etc. There are so many ways to help!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
