WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY and HOW?
Myself, Jon Jon Augustavo and my team of gangster filmmakers are hoping to raise funds to shoot my portfolio film to help me graduate with my MFA in film from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. The piece will be shot in February of 2013 in Los Angeles, CA and Pasadena, CA, with the aim for a rough cut by March and the final version done by April of 2013 (originally slated for November shoot). I believe this film is my voice and hope to share it with the world, but it can only happen with your help. With your support we can experiment and make a short film that challenges what we are fed normally by the machine.
How to Disappear Completely, is a story about life, solitude, loneliness, the meaning of life, making choices and the human condition.
The story's protagonist, Harold, leads a mundane life, full of routine and lifeless activity. That is until a chance meeting with a woman turns his life upside down. He is then faced with several decisions that force him down a path he has never experienced or ever even considered.
What comes of these decisions is what makes this film unique. It is what makes this story real... and what you'll have to see what happens when it is produced for real!
It's like a combination of Paranoid Park, mixed with Good Will Hunting, Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club and a splash of In Bruges.
Let's say serious and introspective, with beautiful cinematography... in other words the perfect drama! The film is set in present day in generic urban squalor. Beige homes, strip malls and dirty pavement, plus one dingy laundromat.
This film will be approximately 15-20 minutes long and will have several masterfully designed locations (because of Noelle Karman the best Production Designer in the NATION!).
Storytelling, storytelling, did I mention storytelling.
In my opinion storytelling is what makes a film worth watching. The story is what, I as a filmmaker, strive to do best. The delivery method of the story differs from filmmaker to filmmaker, but in the end story is what keeps us hooked and what makes film such a dynamic artform.
With this project, I've committed myself to not only tell stories, but to share my voice with the world. I feel I have yet to truly express my own character and soul as an artist and this may be my first real foray into that field. I firmly believe with this film you as the viewer will not only learn about who I am as a filmmaker, but also something about yourself as a viewer and consumer of art. I truly hope my film can change something inside each person that sees it and produce some sort of emotional shift and important memorable experience.
My entire team and I have been working long and hard on this project and believe it is well worth the time and investment we are all making.
I'm lucky enough to have made a career for myself as a music video director and cinematographer. Over the past two years I've made dozens of music videos for hip-hop artists such as, Macklemore, Nipsey Hussle, Blue Scholars and Yonas Michael, as well as shot dozens of beautiful films that have allowed me to garner the attention I have.
I have worked insanely hard to get to where I am, but only hope that I can push and go even further. So with your support, we can get this film made. It is odd and uncomfortbale for me to reach out and ask for support, but I really do need it. Making these films as a student, especially in the LA area is crazy expensive. So again with your support we can cover some of these expenses...
+ 5 LOCATION PERMITS!!! it is madd expensive to shoot in the LA area :(
+ RED EPIC Camera Rental
+ Equipment Rental (Lenses, grip, lights, etc.)
+ Props, Production Design & Wardrobe
+ Food (I gotta pay my friends in food, otherwise I'd have no friends and no workers haha!)
I can't say how much this means to me and again with your support we can all make this film a reality and change the world of film for the better. Thank you so much for even reading this far, but seriously thanks so much for the support and believing in me as a filmmaker and artist.

Risks and challenges
It is nearly impossible to make a film as a student in LA. The odds are against you and the costs are daunting. Renting equipment, hiring crew, getting permits and navigating the slippery slope of union and non union gigs is a mountain of stress. On top of that is the risk of making my first real film that will represent my voice as a director, making something that will help propel me into a certain vein of filmmaking. The hope is that this is the right film to do that, which I truly believe it is. I believe this film is who I am as an artist and I know it will help me walk the same path as filmmakers that came before myself and that I have patterned my own work after, directors like Gus Van Sant, Martin McDonagh, Terrance Malick and many more. Furthermore I believe myself and my amazing team are able to overcome any challenge in the filmmaking world. This is not our first Thesis film we have approached and all that have come before have been successfully created on budget and on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
