About this project
Welcome to the campaign to create Chapter 2 of Phantom Hurricane, and a printing of Chapters 1 and 2 in a single issue.
The first chapter is complete and available to read for free at www.phantomhurricane.com with an excerpt posted farther down.
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Phantom Hurricane is the story of Velia the Tempest, lost in another galaxy with no memory except for her own name. Fighting alongside her adoptive family of different races that form the Sentinel Eye Fleet, she struggles against invading forces while searching for clues to her past, only to have the past find her, possibly to the ruin of all.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jon Haeffner is an Illustrator and Animator who's past works include Nicktoons' "ALIEN DAWN" as a Comic Artist, AMC TV Webcomics "BREAKING BAD", "BETTER CALL SAUL", and other titles as Colorist, as well as Illustration & Animation work for small companies.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
The funds will be used for time required to create the two chapters & art rewards, a print run of the 3 chapter volume, shipping & rewards fulfilment, as well as kickstarter fees and taxes.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Phantom Hurricane is, by and large, a one person project that is the combination of the distillation of years worth of story / character ideas, and recognition of the growing need for stories with positive female representation that also echo many of the social problems we face today. It's gone through other iterations, and I'm pleased to present a piece of work that has both quality and meaning behind it.
Rewards range from a digital sketchbook of development art, high resolution digital versions of each chapter, and the final printed book, to stickers, original sketches, color drawings, and having a character designed after you.

Risks and challenges
The risks and challenges will be in balancing and juggling between writing, drawing, coloring, editing, and lettering - and having the time to work it all out. Having worked on Television and Comics, I'm familiar with tight deadlines and high pressure work, and any risks of not meeting the art deadlines are minimized, save for unforeseen equipment failures.
The printing and shipping fulfillment of rewards will be another challenge, and has been taken into account in the schedule of the campaign for printing/shipping time, and the time needed to send and deliver rewards to every backer, which I am committed to following through with.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
