About this project
This project started when I was doing some work in a café - my place of peace. To me a café brings a feeling of relaxation and easiness, both of which allow me to be creative. Over time I noticed that many others shared in the same sentiment. This feeling of community led me to seek out a way to capture these moments and experiences that we all share.
Having a watch design background, a passion for timepieces and working for firms such as Movado, I could not think of a better way to do this than to create a watch.
After a year designing, prototyping, and visiting factories to determine the best way to create a high quality and attainable timepiece - I am now ready to offer the Brew collection, exclusively on Kickstarter!
The Design Process
- Unique Design (Distinctive geometry and details that separate this timepiece from others)
- Connection (Wearer can relate to an experience through design)
- Attainable (Creating a timepiece that is affordable)
- High Quality (Producing a timepiece that lasts the test of time)
Working to make sure this timepiece is high quality, I have chosen 316L grade stainless steel for the case. The case then goes through a PVD plating process which gives you different color options.
To go further into the details of the Brew watches - they all use a Swiss-made quartz chronograph movement that is manufactured by Ronda. I decided to go with Ronda because of their consistent history of making reliable high-quality movements.
Next, I chose to use an anti-reflective sapphire crystal for the watch. Although it's more expensive than all other options, it has the strength for everyday wear and scratch resistance that I find necessary. There was no compromise when it came to choosing the right parts and manufacturers for this timepiece.
Having experience in the watch industry - I have formed relationships with efficient suppliers that have helped greatly on this project thus far and are ready to move forward with final production.
As for the style of the design - I drew inspiration from industrial espresso machines. I wanted to capture that vital part of the café and translate that into the watch itself.
Translating the design of the espresso machine into the watch led me to focus on the steam vent aesthetics, and use those details throughout the timepiece. I believe the steam vents have a beautiful industrial style to them, so I incorporated those details into the watch in a way that is a fresh look for everyday wear.
After the watch designs were complete, it was time to start on the technical drawings and prepare for prototyping. Once the technical drawings were complete, I was then able to figure out if this design was feasible. Although the watch looks minimalistic in design, the detailing is not. There are unique design features visible from every angle of the timepiece. Again, no compromises were made while creating this beautiful and well thought-out timepiece.
Once I received the prototypes, I tested them thoroughly and reviewed the quality and craftsmanship of our suppliers. After checking over everything they created, I am confident with the manufacturers that we will be going ahead with.
I'm ecstatic with the final design of the Brew collection! It represents the vision I imagined - not only does it express the industrial nature of the espresso machines, but it also conveys the warm feeling that we experience in the café.

We are quite far along in terms of production. All the engineered drawings are finalized and ready for manufacturing. Our case, strap, and packaging suppliers are ready to begin production. Also, I already have the watch tooling completed and paid for; saving us time and money on that entire stage.
Once I receive these watches from production I will give them a second thorough quality control inspection and then secure and prepare them for shipment.
I Need Your Support
I have the finalized engineered drawings, working prototypes, and suppliers that are ready for production. The final element needed is the initial order fee. To keep prices reasonable I need to order a minimum of 400 watches, and that's where you can help. By becoming a backer of this project, you help me pay for the first production run, and also get a great discount on these watches!

Risks and challenges
I understand that creating and delivering new products may come with unexpected delays or setbacks. That's why having strong relationships and a history of working with consistent and reliable supply chains has given me the confidence to be able to say that these risks are greatly minimized.
Its my mission to keep complete transparency and inform backers every step of the way. I will provide photos and videos of the entire watch making process from manufacturing to delivery. In addition to being informative, this will allow backers to see the journey a timepiece takes before it gets to them.
After all is said and done, I want to deliver the absolute highest quality timepieces to each and every one of our backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
