24 hours left, and we've almost reached 4 additional Grant Kirkhope tunes! :D
In these final hours, we at Gears for Breakfast want to thank you guys so much for your help and support!

A lot of you have been asking if we are ever gonna be supporting Paypal; we are happy to let you know that we've been speaking with the folks over at Humble Bundle to set up a Humble Store for A Hat in Time, which supports Paypal, Amazon and Google Wallet! We hope to bring you this feature on our website soon, so even if you missed the Kickstarter you'll still be able to get in on the action!

And one last thing... please consider voting for us on Steam Greenlight! I know we bring it up often, and we wouldn't if it weren't really important!

Happy doomsday!!

Okay, I just pledged because I find the project interesting but I still have some questions/things that could be clearer:
Firstly some clarification on what each tier has; a table or graph would be nice. Let's take for example the 50$ tier: does the box contain a physical copy (with a digital key) and you get an extra key because the tier contains the 25$ tier or not? Do both copies come with the soundtrack? Does it contain postcard and buttons or not?
Secondly the whole dance around the issue of steam and drm free copies: Will the game in the box basically be a steam key? Why not allow the humble store a drm free version or maybe the guys over at GOG? It would be nice to have such an option even if it's further down the line but going by the Strike Suit Zero Kickstarter people want to know in advance how they can get such a copy or if their tier already includes it. Not having this option will mean some people don't buy it but announcing it out of the blue will get you some negative marks with your original supporters.
Thirdly, I must admit I may have overlooked this, but do you guys plan on setting up a forum for discussions about the game? How do you plan distributing the alpha and beta builds and getting feedback? Do you hope to run it all through steam early access?
On a completely different note I was kind of surprised to not see any mention of artbooks, not even a digital pack of sketches or hires art. A little missed opportunity maybe?

Just two hours to go, and over 900% funded! Multiple songs by a known gaming musician, tons of content and a cute girl in a hat (who's eyes remind me of Wind Waker Link) versus a girl with a mustache. Anyone think this game will be big?

    3. Nevan Lowe on

If we get 11,000$ more, we will get a total of SEVEN SONGS from Grant Kirkhope. Let's do this!

    4. Dave Patrick on

Oh and @Jason Anderson, in one of the earlier updates they mention that an Unreal license (necessary for porting the game) would run about $500,000. So it's not really gonna do anything to get it on Wii U except show how much of a demand there is for the game, which will hopeful get a publisher on board and then it can get ported (hopefully).

    5. Dave Patrick on

900% funded. That's pretty bloody awesome.

    6. Ertain on

You guys have raised over $250,000. It damn well better come to a Nintendo console.

    7. Jared Keebz Kaelber on

Man I cannot wait to get my hands on this game! Please, please bring it to Wii U!!! =] it belongs on a Nintendo system

      "Happy doomsday!!"

This pretty much sums up what I think the game is as of now. Sure you got lots of money as of now, but you deserve MORE. Not just for Grant Kirkhope's contribution, but for how fantastic this game is. Also, many of us are desperate to play it, but we gotta wait half a year in order to do so. :C

Congratulations on reaching all the goals! This is amazing! I have a question for Jonas or anyone on the Gears for Breakfast team. In the Co-op mode will we be forced to have one player play as Timmy? Because I would much rather play as two Hat Kids, or just a different colored Hat Kid. If possible :)

who knows... we might even reach a 5th additional song ^_^

      Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Hoho, nice Majora's Moon there XD I'm hoping for there to be an equally creepy equivalent in the Subcon Forest! Maybe one of those additional enemies you guys'll be designing? Any creepy wide-eyed grinning creature would do! Can't wait to hear those new Kirkhope tunes and see the new enemies you'll be adding. Very excited!

    14. Baylee on

@Jonathan - Lol! - I cannot wait until it comes out!

That image is great. Yay home stretch!

@Benjamin: It will unfortunately still be via Steam I'm afraid! The Humble Store will just take care of the purchase.
      @Erik: enjoy!

The partnership with Humble Store is great news - I know I'm not alone in hoping for the option to get my digital copy DRM-free from there rather than via Steam.

    19. Alton Arron Barak on

Let's get 10 songs from Mr. Kirkhope!!! Keep it going!

    20. Jonathan Skelton on

Personally I wish that the people at Gears for Breakfast include tons of easter eggs from the games that they are based on. Now all we need is a legendary sword and three goddesses!

    21. Nevan Lowe on

Now, with the Song from the 150,000$ stretch goal, plus the 4 from Grant's Music Madness, we have 5 songs! Woo Hoo!

    22. Nevan Lowe on

@Shane I think what would be cooler is a giant killer SUN! Maybe in one of the Acts?

      Lindsay Berkovitz on

      That's really cool.

Come on let's rally this home.

I love moon jumper's design- it also has a majora's mask feel to it as well.

Doomsday never seemed so exciting until now.
Can't wait for this gem to come out.
      Keep it up!

    25. Ian Hsieh on

Is that the moon from Majora's Mask XD

    26. Shane Jones on

if the game doesn't include a giant killer moon now, i'm going to be deeeply dissapointed

    27. Jeremias Rodriguez on

no thank you gears for breakfast for making a beautiful game :D

    28. Eric P. Schmidt Jr. on

      i love the majora's mask pic :)

It's great to hear that you guys will be able to sell your game via the Humble Store; they have a really great sales infrastructure, and I generally prefer to buy games via them rather than Steam or gog.

I would be thrilled if you guys decided to distribute your digital copies via Humble.

I've gotta request a high res (preferably 16:10) version of that image so I can use it as my desktop background.

Nice homage to Majora's Mask. And while I'm at it: will there be anything special in store if we reach $300,000, or is it just Kirkhope Mania ahead?

      Jesse King on

Wow! I didn't even see this update and posted a "Dawn of The Final Day" thing in the comments. xD

    35. Mug Monster V on

so we've got over 8000 pledges here, how many votes are on Steam Greenlight? the game's distribution plans seem to rely heavily on Steam, so if everyone who's pledged hasn't also voted, that seems kinda counterproductive, especially since that part's free.

also, how hard can it be to get on Steam? seems like they accept dozens, maybe hundreds of generic 2D games, how can a super polished game like this not make it?

    36. Epona Badger on

Waaaaaah just like Majora's Mask! You guys did it YAAAAY!!

    37. Henri Savilampi on

Majora's Mask is a great game, glad your paying homage to it as well =)

      And congratulations again.
