THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

When we were considering using Kickstarter, we were incredibly worried we wouldn't even reach anywhere near $30,000. We were wrong, and as a result we're able to put so much more into the game!

We're finally able to say, the last stretch goal, Hat Kid's spaceship HUB has been reached!

We've still got 3 days left, so the question is, what's next? And the answer is quite simple: we're at the point where we feel we can make the game we envisioned to the full extent. We don't want to promise revolutionary new additions because we feel comfortable with the current game and the size of the game! This is exactly the game we want to make!

A lot of you are screaming for a Wii U release! We hear you! Unfortunately we also realize that no amount of possible funding will make that easier - we need a publisher! We've been talking to a lot of very understanding and supportive persons with a full UDK license, and we definitely hope that we can announce something soon!

But even if we can't add Wii U as a stretch goal, there is still room for a larger variety of enemies, more NPCs,more collectibles,more unlockables,more attack moves! Increasing the funding will definitely give us the tools to provide more of those!

We've also heard your request for more Grant Kirkhope! We asked him if he was interested in making more tunes, and he said he'd love to! As a result we're introducing...

For every $15,000, we'll be able to provide Mr. Kirkhope with the (incredibly generous!) amount he requires, as well as add an additional enemy, upgrade or NPC to the game!! If you want to make a Grant Kirkhope playlist for A Hat in Time possible, we wanted to provide everyone with a last chance to make it possible!

Thank you once again to Mr. Kirkhope to make this last drive possible! Please keep in mind he's only human though, so in the event we end up with an overwhelming amount of tunes, we'll put a lot more of it into gameplay variety!

      yay for the hub!

      Will it be a Mario 64/Banjo Kazooie style hub (big and packed with secrets!) Banjo Tooie style (even bigger and practically an overworld!) or more like Mario Galaxy (don't bother! :P)?

      Also I'd like to say I thought the music in the original trailer was really good (I took notice of it at the time which I don't usually do) so I 'm not really sure you really need this Kirkhope guy but hey, the more the merrier right?

      @Schmole - I already asked that same question. I backed the $70 digital tier because I didn't need a physical copy of the game. They assured me that my name will still be in the credits.

      As for what name, I would imagine there may be a form to fill out for that specific reward tier which may have a space to put what name you would like to appear in the credits.

      Otherwise.... Schmole it is. ;)

      Does the $70 digital version still come with the option to have your name in the credits? I'll still be forking out the extra money for physical $70 tier (that N64-esque box is stirring up all kind of nostalgic feelings inside me), but am intrigued since I don't think I've seen the question asked elsewhere.
      Also, will we be able to supply our real names/preferred alias for that? I'd hate to see "Schmole" in the credits, rather than my actual name :P

      So so happy we're getting all the stretch goals. Here's hoping for two extra Grant Kirkhope songs! Since the Kickstarter has gotten so far ahead of the initial goal, have you guys given any more thought to perhaps making a comic tie-in or something? I still think that would be super cool. The art style of the game is so charming!

      Nevermind my previous question, it's answered in the FAQ. A PHYSICAL COPY OF THE GAME tier actually does not include a PHYSICAL COPY OF THE GAME which is... idiotic. To say the least. Withdrawing my 72 dollar pledge.

      That said, the game looks utterly fantastic, and your success completely justified! All the best!

      The 50 dollar PHYSICAL COPY OF THE GAME tier actually comes with a PHYSICAL COPY OF THE GAME? (ie, not just a code)?

      Brilliant. I thought the hub world would be a nice "crowning" goal to end on, but it also seemed like a good idea to reward more pledges somehow. Adding more songs from Grant Kirkhope this way encourages more activity without having a goal that will be disappointing if it's missed. It's a perfect way to close out these last few days.

      Gears for Breakfast, congratulations on getting enough funds to build the game fully the way you envisioned it. You know the rest of us are eager to try it! But give it all the time and attention it needs, and be careful not to rush anything.

      And hey! Maybe in the developer commentary, you can talk a bit about what things you did to prepare for the Kickstarter and draw attention to it! You just know there are other aspiring game developers out there who'd love to learn from your success! ;)

      I want to leave a witty comment but I've got nothing.
      Congrats on meeting all the goals though. I'm super excited to see the full game at it's finest. Definitely my most anticipated game right now; so much so I dug up my old N64( which i'm surprised still works) to replay banjo kazooie.

      I am really happy that you reached all these goals. I am sure that you'll put the funds to great use, and more Kirkhope tunes is just great. I wonder what's on your guys' minds though; your original budget was planned for 30 000 bucks, but now you've got almost seven times the amount. Do you feel you have any clue in how you should use the extra funds? Will you hire more people - buy more time with it? Will any of it be used for marketing?

      I trust that you know what you're doing and will figure out a way to use the pledges efficiently. After looking over the stuff you've done in just your free time I'm excited to see what you'll do with free reigns.

      You guys should add a add-on rewards to other rewards. I would really like to buy a T-shirt or Soundtrack and I can't because I would have to give up my Early Bird reward for it

      So excited this made it over 200k and I love the idea of more Kirkhope tunes as a further stretch goal! Awesome job GfB, can't wait to see the final product! Also, the hub world tune should definitely be Kirkhope.

      Hey Gears, I have an idea. Maybe you could ask the community to produce some Grant Kirkhope-esque tunes. That will free up your resources and I bet some community members out their would love to produce tunes for free for you. Maybe you could then have a page where backers vote on the tunes they like best. Good luck with the game - looking forward to it!

      I have an idea.Maybe you could make it so after you gain abilities from later chapters, make it so you can go back and find new collectables in old ones, like say, Metroid. What do you think of my idea?

      1 question gears. for those of us that live in the US. do we pay shipping for pledges like the buttons or the poster Copy 40$ tier? or do you guys do that.

      More abilities that open you new places would be awesome. That was what made Banjo-Kazooie the game it was !!! You could do even better

      I am so happy that this game can be made without any cut-outs from the original idea.
      Do not force it to be made, put as much time as needed so we can get a high quality game.
      And this is maybe me who wishes for too much but, I hope this game can awaken this genre again.

      If wiiU isn't possible, how about 3ds. There was another kickstarter. Shovel Knight that promised 3ds/wiiU support perhaps talk to them about how they're doing it? They got around the same funding as you guys did.

      I'd like to see places in early levels that you can only access later in the game when you have more abilities. I always enjoy going back to early levels to see what kind of new stuff I can find with my new abilities.

      Completely agree, one quick and good way would be to hide challenges in the HUB, much like SM64's hidden stars mixed with Sunshine's Secret zones.

      More attack moves sounds okay, but it'd be really great to see more moves that allow more...movement!
      I love that you've added a dive jump similar to the one found in SM64, and it would really make me happy to see more such moves. Flips, jumps, slides!

      Another thing I want to keep pestering you for is modability! Please. PLEASE.

      Yes! This is so exciting! With this latest news, I really hope that Grant Kirkhope ends up composing the music for the hub world, so you can listen to it that much more often. Also his hub world songs are my favorites, Grunty's Lair, Isle O' Hags, and DK Isles. Oh man I am looking forward to this game!

      Very glad the HUB world is here. However, are you thinking of extending the game size/hours now? I would love it if this was a game about the size of Banjo Kazooie, or Banjo Tooie, or Mario 64. :) And yeah I'm that one guy on YT, I remember asking about this once, just making sure again. :)

      Anyway, glad you made it all the way to 200k! And I think one of the songs Grant Kirkhope should do is the space ship HUB. :D
